The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have team chemistry like no other. QB Baker Mayfield has guided the team to a few successful seasons after taking over from QB Tom Brady. With such large shoes to fill, Mayfield has done a fantastic job, and now he’s got a running back that makes his life a whole lot easier.
After a massive game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Mayfield’s wife, Emily, showed her support for RB Bucky Irving.

After getting banged up twice in the game, Irving is questionable to play in Week 5. The 23-year-old has taken the world by storm since emerging as RB1 last season. The Buccaneers got a steal by selecting him No. 125 overall last year. In his rookie season, he had 1,122 rushing yards with eight touchdowns. While he didn’t have a receiving touchdown, he added 47 receptions for 392 yards, all without missing a single game.
Despite having played in 21 consecutive games, there’s reason to believe Irving will miss the team’s Week 5 showdown in Seattle. Until HC Todd Bowles receives further updates on his starting running back, Buccaneers fans will have to wait. In the meantime, they can join Emily in celebrating his milestone.

Against the Eagles, Irving became “The first player in franchise history to record 100+ receiving yards & 50+ rushing yards in the same game.” Emily Mayfield took to Instagram to post a few party emojis as she celebrated his monumental achievement.
Through four weeks, Irving is only behind rookie WR Emeka Egbuka for receiving yards. Mayfield has led three-game winning drives so far this season, but had a few mistakes against the Eagles. Entering Week 5, he’s 21st in PFSN’s QB Impact metric with a C grade. Looking at the running backs, Irving is 32nd with a C-.
Irving’s Week 1 totals left plenty of room for improvement, but he’s continued to climb the ranks. He had just 45 combined yards against the Falcons before breaking out in Week 4 against the reigning Super Bowl Champions. Despite losing, 31-25, Irving had 15 carries for 63 yards and five receptions for 102 yards. The second-year player has a pair of touchdowns this season, both of which are receiving.
Mayfield set his running back up for success as Irving ran through the Eagles’ defense for a massive 72-yard touchdown. Last year, he had just three receptions of 20+ yards. His longest came in Week 16 against the Carolina Panthers. He finished that game with a career high of 77 receiving yards, a number he surpassed this past weekend.
