Buccaneers Predicted To Land 20-TD RB in Free Agency To Form Special Duo With Bucky Irving

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could add a player from one of their division rivals during free agency to help boost their running game.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a great running back in Bucky Irving, as he has wowed fans with his explosiveness. However, the Buccaneers could look to improve their running game by adding free agent Tyler Allgeier. There are a couple of reasons why this would be a perfect landing spot in free agency.

Tampa Bay Looking To Pair Tyler Allgeier With Bucky Irving

As Moe Moton of Bleacher Report goes on to say, “Allgeier would fit seamlessly in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense, reuniting with former Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson, whom the Buccaneers hired to fill the same position after they fired Josh Grizzard.”

Under Robinson in 2025, Allgeier had 8 rushing touchdowns and had 514 yards. Allgeier had a couple of great games last season. The most notable was his Monday Night Game against the Minnesota Vikings, where he had 76 yards on 16 carries, averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

Vikings Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores had one of the better run defenses this year, as his unit was tied for only allowing 4 yards per carry. So the fact that Allgeier averaged 4.8 yards a carry against that unit, which is almost 1 yard more than what Minnesota allowed, is most impressive.

Irving had a standout rookie year for the Buccaneers, recording 1,122 rushing yards while averaging 5.4 yards per carry. However, Irving’s sophomore season was a bit of a slump due to injury. Irving missed about 7 games in his sophomore season. So, if Irving were to struggle with injury and miss some games, Allgeier showed he could be a number one back with his time in Atlanta, especially in 2022.

Moton says, “Before the Falcons selected Robinson with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 draft, Tyler Allgeier led their backfield, rushing for 1,035 yards and three touchdowns in 2022.”

During the 2022 season, Allgeier ranked sixth in yards per attempt for backs who had over 1,000 yards. He was only behind great Pro Bowl backs such as Nick Chubb, Aaron Jones, and Tony Pollard. Hopefully, Irving is healthy and plays all games next season, but Allgeier has shown that he can be the lead back if called upon.

If the Buccaneers do not sign Allgeier, Irving, and Sean Tucker, they would still have a solid running game. According to Moton “Tampa Bay could retain restricted free agent running back Sean Tucker, who’s also developed into an effective short-yardage ball-carrier.”

However, Allgeier and Irving, plus the Buccaneers’ offensive line, could create a very lethal running game. The Buccaneers have some great offensive linemen, such as Left Tackle Tristan Wirfs and Right Guard Cody Mauch.

So, in conclusion, pairing Allgeier with Irving behind the Buccaneers’ offensive line could create a potent run game. The Buccaneers have Super Bowl aspirations, and this is another piece of the puzzle that could help Tampa Bay achieve that goal.
