The Cleveland Browns were defeated by the New York Jets in Week 10, 27-20.
This is an embarrassing loss for the Browns, as the Jets entered the day with a single win this season. To add insult to injury, Jets quarterback Justin Fields completed just six passes for 54 passing yards in this matchup. It’s tough to blame Browns rookie signal caller Dillon Gabriel for the team coming up short, as he threw two passing touchdowns and no interceptions.
Still, NFL fans are continuing their desperate plea to get Shedeur Sanders on the field, and it’s once again failing.
Browns Announce Starting QB for Week 11
After the embarrassing loss to the Jets, head coach Kevin Stefanski shared who Cleveland’s starting quarterback will be in their Week 11 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens (4-5).
“We’re going to stick with Dillon,” Stefanski began postgame, per Owen Lademann. “Obviously this is a young player that you’re always trying to get one game better and those types of things, but we have to play better as an offense, we have to coach better, all of the above.”
As much as fans of Sanders may hate to admit it, Gabriel was not at fault for this loss. The Browns’ special teams gave up a kick return and punt return touchdown in the first quarter, putting the former Oregon Duck in a tough spot.
There was a 0.0% chance the Jets were going to run a play here, and the Browns jumped offsides to end the game.

Could Gabriel have done more with his 32 pass attempts? Of course, but recording 221 total yards, two touchdown throws, and no turnovers is not a terrible outing. Gabriel does, however, have a disappointing 52.3 impact score from PFSN, which ranks him No. 37 among quarterbacks.

The Sanders fandom will continue to push to see the 23-year-old until it happens, so social media unsurprisingly erupted at the news that Gabriel will move forward as the Browns’ starter.
@_rhy00: “lost to the jets and still rolling with dillon LMAOOO.”
@jersain12: “they just really hate shedeur huh.”
@Silkyjonesbro: “They just lost to the worst team and still not changing QB [laughing emojis].”
@brandongucci12: “what did shedeur do to deserve this.”
The reality is no one knows if Sanders would perform any better than Gabriel in this underwhelming offense. The Browns’ offense is the league’s worst, per PFSN, with an impact score of 55.1. However, there’s good reason for fans to have hope in him.
He was a projected top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft before notoriously falling to Cleveland in the fifth round. The logic for those supporting Sanders is simple: he has the talent of a top-five pick, so why not let him prove it?
With plenty of weeks still remaining in the regular season, fans should be patient and continue holding out hope of seeing Sanders get his opportunity to shine.
Myles Garrett Provides Input on Browns’ QB Situation
Most would agree defensive end Myles Garrett is the Browns’ best player. Garrett, a team captain, broke silence on the quarterback debate between Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders after falling short against New York on Sunday.
It was announced Gabriel will remain the Browns’ starter for Week 11, so Garrett was asked postgame for his reaction to this announcement.
“Quarterback direction has nothing to do with me. I’m worried about the defense and us giving up the points that we did and the first downs we did,” Garrett shared. “Who we stick with at QB is up to Kevin.”
Gabriel has an impact score of 52.3 from PFSN, which ranks No. 37 among QBs. With this in mind, it’s easy to see why so many fans are pushing to see Sanders on the field. However, it’s impossible to know if the former Colorado Buffaloes signal caller will perform any better in this lackluster Browns offense.
Gabriel completed 17 of his 32 pass attempts for 167 passing yards and two touchdowns against the Jets. He also tallied five carries for 54 rushing yards.
