Las Vegas Raiders’ tight end Brock Bowers delivered another jaw-dropping highlight Sunday at SoFi Stadium. His one-handed touchdown catch had NFL analysts reaching for superlatives as Las Vegas fell 31-14 to the Chargers in Week 13.
Analysts React to Bowers’ Spectacular One-Handed Grab
The play came on second-and-goal from the 6-yard line with the Raiders trailing 24-7 in the fourth quarter. Geno Smith threw low and behind Bowers. The pass looked like a throwaway, but the second-year tight end extended his inside arm and snagged it one-handed while falling backward. He secured the ball to his chest and got both feet down in the end zone.
NFL on CBS featured the play with commentary from Andrew Catalon: “BOWERS CAUGHT THAT. YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME.”

The touchdown was actually Bowers’ second attempt on the drive. Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh called a timeout before the previous play, wiping out an earlier Bowers touchdown. Smith and Bowers connected again after a first-down loss to produce the spectacular score.
Bowers’ Production Continues Despite Raiders’ Struggles
Bowers ranks ninth in PFSN’s Tight End Impact metric with a B grade and an 83.0 score. The second-year tight end finished Sunday’s loss with four catches for 63 yards and two scores, giving him 49 receptions for 573 yards and five touchdowns through nine games this season. He missed Weeks 5-7 with a knee injury sustained in the season opener.
His first touchdown came on a 6-yard reception where a Chargers coverage breakdown left him wide open in the back of the end zone.
Bowers continues producing despite playing for a Raiders offense averaging just 15.0 points per game. Las Vegas dropped to 2-10 with its sixth consecutive loss in the 31-14 defeat.
The Chargers’ defense entered the game as one of the league’s best against tight ends. Bowers still found ways to make plays, including a 27-yard catch-and-run on the Raiders’ first offensive series. His ability to create after the catch and make difficult receptions keeps him a focal point even when defenses key on him.
The Raiders selected Bowers 13th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. He set rookie records last season with 112 receptions and 1,194 receiving yards, earning Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro honors. Whether hauling in circus catches or serving as Smith’s safety valve, Bowers continues showing why he’s already operating at an elite level.
