After a 3-14 season, the New York Jets are eager to prove last year was a fluke. They’ve hired Frank Reich to coordinate the offense and traded for Geno Smith to quarterback it. Meanwhile, Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson return as the leading playmakers, only now they’re joined by first-round rookies Kenyon Sadiq and Omar Cooper Jr.
The crazy part is, Jets fans haven’t even seen this team at full strength yet, so there’s a lot of excitement leading up to the season opener on Sept. 13. But there’s some question as to whether Hall will be available in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans.
Breece Hall Injury Update Suggests He’ll Play Week 1
Naturally, fantasy football owners don’t want to hear any further concerns about Hall’s availability for the start of the regular season. The 25-year-old is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, rushing for a personal best 1,065 yards and 4 touchdowns while hauling in 36 receptions for 350 yards and a touchdown catch.
Yet, Hall suffered a groin injury in mid-August, and he’s been sidelined from Jets practice ever since. Of course, the Jets aren’t trying to rush their prized running back’s return before he’s ready. After all, the Jets just signed him to a three-year, $43.5 million extension in May.
However, the latest Hall injury update from head coach Aaron Glenn suggests the star RB is on track to play in Week 1 against Tennessee. Glenn said that Hall “will be ready” when the regular season rolls around.

A more recent update from NYJets.com’s Jack Bell reminded that Hall is “expected to be back and take (Braelon Allen’s) place in the starting backfield” for their Week 1 road matchup in Tennessee.
Hall landed 21st among running backs in PFN’s RB Impact Metric last season, earning a grade of 75.2.

While not much went right in a three-win season, Hall’s effectiveness was a rare bright spot in New York. Yet, now that they appear to have a stronger supporting cast, Hall may be able to reach new heights in The Big Apple.
Hall started 16 games in each of the past two seasons and appeared in 17 more in 2023, so he’s managed to stay quite healthy despite seeing over 260 touches each of the past three years. From the sound of it, even though he’s a bit banged up right now, Hall won’t be missing the Jets’ season opener either.
The Jets also have running backs Braelon Allen, Isaiah Davis, and Kene Nwangwu on the roster behind Hall. But if the Jets get their way, they won’t have to rely on the backups often in Week 1 or throughout the season.
