Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase took note on Wednesday when his now-former teammate, Trey Hendrickson, signed a $112 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens.
Chase headed out to social media and shared his thoughts.
Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase Sends Interesting Message
On Wednesday afternoon, Chase went to his X account and posted a GIF with this message: “Mmmmh today April 1st ?”
Chase has played all five of his NFL seasons with the Bengals, and it appears that he was pretty close to Hendrickson.
NFL on ESPN’s account on X shared Chase’s post on X and wrote: “Ja’Marr Chase posted this on X following the announcement of Trey Hendrickson signing with the Bengals’ divisional rivals.”

According to data provided by Spotrac about Hendrickson’s deal, “Trey Hendrickson signed a 4 year, $112,000,000 contract with the Baltimore Ravens, including $20,000,000 signing bonus, $60,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $28,000,000.”
Chase was a first-round draft choice out of LSU by the Bengals in the 2021 NFL Draft. In 16 games in the 2025 NFL season for Cincinnati, Chase had 125 catches for 1,412 receiving yards and 8 touchdown receptions. Chase averaged 11.3 yards per reception last season, too. He finished in 8th nationally according to the PFSN’s NFL WR Impact metrics.
Hendrickson played his first four NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints before joining the Bengals in the 2021 NFL season. Hendrickson has four Pro Bowl appearances to his credit, along with a first-team All-Pro selection in the 2024 NFL season. He also finished second in voting for the Associated Press’ Defensive Player of the Year.
Hendrickson has played in 117 career NFL games, making 88 career starts. He has 16 career passes defended and 15 career forced fumbles. Hendrickson has 81 career sacks, with his best sack seasons coming in the 2023 and 2024 NFL seasons. In both of those seasons, Hendrickson recorded 17.5 sacks.
Hendrickson also has 163 career quarterback hits to his credit. But he played only 7 games in the 2025 NFL season, missing time due to injuries.
Now, Hendrickson joins the Ravens, a team looking to reinforce its pass rush and overall defensive front heading into the new campaign. Should he stay healthy, Hendrickson can provide Baltimore with a steady, disruptive presence off the edge and valuable veteran leadership in the locker room.
As for Chase, he now watches a former teammate land a big-time free agent deal and move to an AFC rival. Both Baltimore and Cincy will be hoping their 2026 seasons look far stronger than the uneven campaigns they endured most recently.
