Entering this week’s NFL action, the Chicago Bears, behind quarterback Caleb Williams and first-year head coach Ben Johnson, sat in first place in the NFC North Division just ahead of the Green Bay Packers, whom the Bears played at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis., on Sunday.
But the Bears fell short as the Packers scored a 28-21 victory, taking over the NFC North lead with a 9-3-1 record. The Bears, now 9-4 for the season, were tied with the Los Angeles Rams entering Sunday’s action atop the NFC conference standings, but that’s gone now, too.
The Rams are all alone atop the NFC standings with the Packers at No. 2 and the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in third.
At this point, things look pretty good for Chicago to be near winning the NFC North or even making the NFL postseason.
How Far Can the Chicago Bears Go?
While the standings and records say one thing, what do the playoff odds indicate? The PFSN NFL Playoff Predictor offers some clarity heading into Sunday.
According to PFSN data, the Bears have a 74.7% chance of making the NFL playoffs, a 27.7% chance of winning their division, and a 3.8% chance of winning the No. 1 seed.

How important was the Bears-Packers showdown on Sunday?
According to NFL.com, if the Bears won at Lambeau Field, they would have been considered a near lock to clinch a postseason berth while strengthening their bid for the No. 1 seed and the NFC North title. Conversely, a Packers victory moved them ahead of Chicago in the division.
The Packers have swept their divisional games against the Detroit Lions this season.
Now, let’s take a look at what Williams has been able to do in leading the Bears’ offense this season. According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, Williams has an impact score of 75.5 and grades out to a C. Williams has thrown 17 touchdown passes and just five interceptions.
He’s proven to be effective in the pocket and has been able to find receivers downfield on a consistent basis. Johnson came over to the Bears after running the Lions’ offense as Detroit’s offensive coordinator under head coach Dan Campbell.
With a new offensive mind guiding the Bears, Williams’ play has improved during the 2025 NFL season. According to the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, Chicago holds an impact score of 78.3, grading out at a C+.
Although those numbers may not appear impressive at first glance, the Bears’ offense has operated with greater efficiency under Johnson’s direction. Entering Sunday, Chicago was fully aware that defeating Green Bay remained its top priority. While it didn’t work out at Lambeau Field, both teams will meet again soon, this time at Soldier Field in Chicago.
Here is the rest of the Bears’ schedule:
- Week 15: Bears vs. Browns
- Week 16: Bears vs. Packers
- Week 17: Bears at 49ers
- Week 18: Bears vs. Lions
