Sunday Night Football marked a high for the New England Patriots, but they faced a harsh reality on Monday. This NFL Insider announced a bombshell that will shake up the Patriots’ running back room in the immediate future.
After upsetting the Buffalo Bills, 23-20, tragedy struck for RB Antonio Gibson. Moving forward, the 3-2 Patriots are going to have their work cut out for them.

What did Adam Schefter Say About Patriots RB Antonio Gibson’s Season-Ending Injury?
Gibson is the latest running back to join the list of season-ending injuries. From players like RB Najee Harris to Austin Ekeler, Gibson now joins them as he suffered a season-ending torn ACL. Gibson, who had just six carries for 21 yards on Sunday Night Football, will be forced to sit on the sideline for the remainder of the season.
Tests today revealed that Patriots RB Antonio Gibson suffered a season-ending torn ACL, per sources.

Schefter broke the news on Monday, October 6, one day after the Patriots handed the Bills their first loss of the season. With the Philadelphia Eagles losing earlier in the day, the Patriots sealed the fate of the final undefeated team in the league. New England has now won three of its last four games, and it has eight games to go before a dreaded Week 14 Bye.
Currently, 23-year-old RB Lan Larison is on the injured reserve, dealing with a foot injury. The undrafted rookie out of UC Davis has yet to be activated as he itches to get on the field for the first time in his career. Depending on when he returns, he could see the field much sooner than anticipated due to Gibson’s injury.
It’s safe to assume RB Rhamondre Stevenson will remain RB1. Stevenson, 27, has more experience than the team’s No. 38 overall pick, RB Treveyon Henderson. Henderson, 22, is still waiting for his first breakout moment. So far this season, he’s barely behind Stevenson, who leads the team with 38 carries for 139 yards. Henderson has 32 carries for 121 yards, averaging 0.1 more yards per attempt.
Surprisingly, QB Drake Maye has more rushing yards than Gibson did. Gibson, in five games, had 25 carries for 106 yards. Knowing Maye has 27 rushing attempts, it shows how often this Patriots team runs the ball. Without Gibson, they no longer have that reliable RB3. The only other players to attempt a rushing attempt are a pair of receivers and backup QB Joshua Dobbs.
As it stands, Maye is 9th in PFSN’s QB Impact Metric with a B grade. As a whole, this Patriots offense is also ranked 8th with their B- grade in PFSN’s Offense Impact Metric.
