Stefon Diggs’ future with the New England Patriots looks questionable at this point. In his 11-season career, Super Bowl 60 was the first time the 4-time Pro Bowl WR appeared in the NFL championship game. While that’s an awfully long time, his performance has been a key factor in why people expect him to be out of the franchise.
The 32-year-old wideout signed a three-year, $63.5 million deal last season and played exceptionally well in his first year back from ACL injury. He still has two years left in his contract, but only time will tell if it helps. For now, one analyst stands with keeping him on the team.
Stefon Diggs’ Off-Field Issue Intensifies Trade Expectations
Patriots on CLNS posted a video on X featuring NFL analyst Greg A. Bedard discussing Diggs’ future with the Patriots. His words give the impression that things are still very unclear.
Bedard started, saying, “I think it’s a coin flip. As of now, I am siding with keeping him and probably doing something with his contract where there’s phony extension with voids that sort of spreads up cap hit.”
He then spoke about the circumstances under which he would have pressed the team to release the veteran WR. Bedard added:
“In most circumstances, if the Patriots have their program going and it was more than one year or one draft I would say move on… But you have guys like Demario Douglas who I don’t think are the greatest fit for this scheme and where they are going on offense.”

About Diggs being a preference, the analyst said, “I still think he is a good player, I think he is fit for this offense, I think he needs to be more of an auxiliary piece of this offense instead of the center piece. He needs to be the number 3 option.”
Per the PFSN NFL WR Impact Metric, Diggs was the 4th-ranked WR in the 2025-26 season. But this season does not just come with injury for the starting WR on the field; there are off-field factors that might influence the team’s decision.
According to a police report, Diggs’ ex-personal chef has alleged the star WR of assault.
The report said, via WBZ-TV, “She said that they began to discuss this, which apparently angered the male. She alleges that the male then smacked her across the face. She said that she tried to push him away. The male then tried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck.”
Diggs still maintains his innocence, pleading ‘Not Guilty,’ and his attorney, Mitchell Schuster, seconded it, saying, “Stefon is completely innocent. He did not commit any of the acts alleged in the complaint, and we are able to prove that.” While time will prove where things head, the decision will still lie with the team officials.

Bedard then went on to explain why he feels Diggs cannot be the Patriots’ primary WR option. He said:
“2 or 3 option on this team, not the number 1. Because I think if they have somebody better, and I am just throwing this name out there just as an example, like an A.J. Brown, that makes Diggs better, and they can’t just clamp down on him with a double team, which they did a lot in the playoffs.”
Condensing his take on the affair, Bedard said, “I am leaning towards yes right now, but that is very tentative.”
As PFSN’s Caleb Yaccarino puts it, “The playoffs have clearly been a struggle, but the regular season was different. He was a difference-maker this season, but it just hasn’t happened in the playoffs. Still, when the lights are brightest, a massive performance from Diggs can happen at any time.”
