The Detroit Lions are facing a short week for Week 14 as they head into a key NFC matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on “Thursday Night Football.”
In the Lions’ Thanksgiving loss to their divisional foes, the Green Bay Packers, their top receiver, Amon-Ra St. Brown, went out with a low ankle sprain and has not practiced so far this week. It has fans wondering if he will play in this week’s game.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Injury Update
The Lions are currently 7-5, and their season has not gone the way fans had hoped after their exciting 15-2 record in 2024. They started the season off strong, going 4-1 in their first five games before entering a mid-season slump.
While Dallas is hot on the heels of the Philadelphia Eagles for the lead of the NFC East, the Lions are two games behind the Chicago Bears, in third place, in the NFC North. Losing St. Brown could only serve to put them further behind.
St. Brown did not practice this week and was a game-time decision for Week 14. During their Tuesday press conferences, head coach Dan Campbell told the media that, of course, St. Brown wants to play.

“I know this, if he can play, he’ll play. That’s the best way to say it,” said Campbell to reporters on Tuesday.
With less than two hours before the game, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler confirmed that St. Brown will play against the Cowboys. “Walking off, Amon-Ra St. Brown gave me the thumbs up that he is indeed playing tonight. Did everything in warmups,” Fowler wrote on X.

This is St. Brown’s fifth season in the NFL after being drafted in the fourth round by the Lions in 2021. He quickly became a valuable offensive weapon and was a full-time starter by his second season.
He made the Pro Bowl for the first time in his sophomore season and again the next two seasons. St. Brown is also a two-time All-Pro. The Lions’ talented WR1 also spoke with reporters and reiterated the same sentiments.
The 26-year-old told the media on Tuesday, “It hurts, but it’s getting better. So, that’s good news. Just day by day. Just trying to make sure I’m out there for my guys.”
The injury occurred when he was rolled up on from behind while blocking for Jahmyr Gibbs during the Lions’ 31-24 loss to the Packers. The fact that he didn’t return had fans concerned he would miss several weeks; low ankle sprains are notoriously tricky.
Detroit’s Week 15 game will be played on Sunday, Dec. 14, against the Los Angeles Rams. This means that if St. Brown did not play on Thursday, he would have had 10 days between the two games to try to recover fully.
The Lions are desperately trying to save their season, and their best receiver will be on the field to help them.
