Among Deion Sanders’ three sons, Shedeur Sanders has been the only one to successfully make an NFL roster after the Cleveland Browns selected the quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. Although his rookie campaign did not go exactly as planned, there’s still hope he makes it as a quarterback in this league.
That hope took a slight hit when the Browns’ young quarterback was relegated to second on Cleveland’s depth chart, prompting a reaction from Shilo.
Shilo Sanders Can’t Resist Taking a Dig at Shedeur Sanders
While Shedeur successfully made Cleveland’s 53-man roster, he still faces a challenging path inside the Browns’ quarterback room.
Cleveland head coach Todd Monken named veteran Deshaun Watson as the team’s starting quarterback heading into the regular-season opener.
However, Shedeur earned the backup quarterback role on the 53-man roster, meaning he’s still involved in the grand scheme of things.
This week, in a YouTube video shared on his channel, Shilo Sanders was seen FaceTiming his mother, Pilar, while also speaking with his younger brother, Shedeur. During the conversation, the brothers once again showcased their playful relationship, with Shilo taking a subtle jab at Shedeur for successfully navigating the preseason without being released.

“Congratulations, Shedeur,” Shilo said. “You made it through preseason without getting cut. Yes, sir.”
After going undrafted in 2025, Shilo signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a safety in an effort to earn his own place in the NFL. However, his opportunity in Tampa Bay came to an end after the Buccaneers released him following a preseason game in which he was ejected.

For Shedeur, the road to this point has been filled with both setbacks and opportunities. He spent the first part of last season buried in Cleveland’s depth chart before taking over as the starter for the final seven games.
Sanders finished his rookie season with 1,400 passing yards and seven touchdown passes while throwing 10 interceptions. His overall performance placed him second-to-last in PFN’s QB Impact Metrics, with only Cam Ward receiving a lower grade in the metric.
The Browns will begin their 2026 season on the road in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Shedeur will enter the season as Cleveland’s backup quarterback. Still, given the uncertainty surrounding the position, he could have an important opportunity waiting if the team turns to him during the season.
