Prayers Come In for Roger Craig After Vascular Dementia Diagnosis

In Craig’s biggest moment of his life, he delivered the shocking news. Now, the NFL world is pouring in its prayers on the San Francisco 49ers legend’s special day.

“Roger Craig just revealed he has dementia in his Hall of Fame speech. That’s absolutely devastating news. He’s such a legend bro,” said Sports content creator Dylan.

NFL analyst Albert Breer made sure to give his reaction and prayers in response to the tough news.

“For those who missed it, Roger Craig revealed a dementia diagnosis in his Hall of Fame speech, a diagnosis he believes could be related to concussions suffered playing football,” said Breer.

Craig revealed with his diagnosis that the concussions that he suffered while lighting it up for the 49ers on the gridiron likely contributed to his diagnosis. Despite that, Craig ended his speech in high spirits, expressing plenty of gratitude for his journey.

“Man…Roger Craig reveals during pre-recorded HOF speech he’s been diagnosed with early dementia, with concussions during playing career a factor. But ends speech with gratitude for entire journey,” said reporter Chris Boden.

It’s a tough reality many athletes face. The injuries add up, especially to the head, which the doctors are saying could lead to diagnoses like Craig’s.

“Hate what’s happening to all our heroes. Roger Craig and all athletes battling late in their lives. Thank you,” said one social media personality.

“Prayers up to Roger Craig. An absolute legend and pioneer,” wrote Saints content creator TJAY Jones.

Craig made sure it was clear that his diagnosis won’t overshadow what has evaded him for 28 years. This exact moment is the finishing touch on his legendary career, and it won’t be taken away from him by some diagnosis.

“Emotionally arresting moment. But Craig delivered the message — and watched it from the stage — with a smile,” said Yahoo Sports writer Eric Edholm.

Craig won’t be defined by his dementia diagnosis. What he will be defined as is much simpler than another person suffering from vascular dementia. He is a 49ers legend, a three-time Super Bowl champion, and most importantly, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, forever.
