Larry Fitzgerald will remember August 8, 2026, forever. It will always be the day he was immortalized in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and when he saw all his hard work pay off. At that point, he had plenty of people to thank, including Hall of Famer Randy Moss, and he delivered a beautiful tribute to Moss.

Fitzgerald and Moss developed a relationship when the latter was tearing up the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, and Fitzgerald was just a teenager as a ball boy for the Vikings. They formed a special bond.
Moss was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in late 2024. He underwent surgery and chemotherapy, but is healthy now, and Fitzgerald paid a heartfelt tribute to Moss’ victory over cancer in his speech.
“Another player who changed my life was Randy Moss,” Fitzgerald said. “People ask me all the time what I learned from Randy Moss, and my answer is always the same: I learned nothing. Because there was nothing I could do like him on the football field. They call him ‘The Freak’ for a reason.”

From there, Fitzgerald learned a lot from Moss, or, well, according to Fitzgerald, he learned nothing from the Vikings legend other than generosity when Moss gave the former Cardinals star clothes, shoes, and showed up at his high school football games.
“Randy, being acknowledged by you, someone bigger than life, it meant the world to me,” Fitzgerald added. “I’m happy, I’m so happy you’re healthy, brother.”

Even though Fitzgerald says he learned nothing in terms of football, he must have learned something to put together the career he did. 17 seasons of greatness with more tackles than drops as a wide receiver is unheard of. He racked up nine seasons of 1,000+ receiving yards, 11 Pro Bowl appearances, and even three first-team All-Pro appearances.
Fitzgerald always graded out well in all of PFN’s metrics. He owns two top-5 seasons in his long career, with eight of his 17 seasons classified as elite with a PFN WR Impact grade over 80. His highest grade, 90.5, earned him a legendary classification in 2008.
Fitzgerald was great on the field, but his personality off the field earns him so much respect from his peers. He made sure to give Moss a tribute on his special day.
It’s no surprise he won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award in 2016. Moss and Fitzgerald’s relationship may have started many years ago, but now they are both enshrined in the Hall of Fame together forever.
