Brady Tkachuk Takes Social Media Break
Tkachuk’s playoff performance didn’t help quiet the critics. He was held pointless and finished with a minus-4 rating across the four-game series, leading some to question his leadership and overall impact when it mattered most.
At the same time, his situation has created the perfect storm for trade chatter. With two years remaining on his contract, many believe his value is as high as it’s ever been. If Ottawa were to consider a move, it could bring back a massive return, top prospects, young NHL talent, and future assets.
The rumors aren’t just about Ottawa’s plans; other teams are circling too. Among the most frequently mentioned destinations are the St. Louis Blues, his hometown team, the Florida Panthers, where his brother Matthew Tkachuk plays, and the New York Rangers.
Through it all, Tkachuk admits the outside noise has been hard to ignore, especially online. “It’s tough. Sometimes the algorithms, you can’t control it, you just see it. And honestly, that’s for me, the way I kind of handle that times is to get off Twitter,” Brady said.
For Tkachuk, stepping away wasn’t about avoiding accountability; it was about maintaining focus.
When it comes to the rumors themselves, his frustration is clear. “I feel like I’ve answered this hundreds of times that none of that I feel like I’ve never said, none of those things ever came out of my mouth. Honestly, it’s just getting frustrated.”
“I have been fully committed to this team, to this city,” he added. “And it’s becoming a distraction, frustrating to deal with.”
That commitment is part of what made Ottawa’s season both impressive and painful. The Senators clawed their way up from the bottom of the standings, putting together a late push to secure a Wild Card spot. Which made the first-round exit sting even more.
“We made up all that ground and got into [the playoffs]… at the end of the day, we didn’t get what we truly wanted,” Brady Tkachuk said.
