Chiefs WR Rashee Rice Endorses Top-5 Projected Draft Pick To Upgrade Kansas City’s Offense

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice endorses the idea of taking a receiver in the draft, specifically mentioning Ohio State's Carnell Tate.

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off an abysmal 6-11 2025-26 season, and now, their No. 1 wide receiver, Rashee Rice, has endorsed the idea of bringing in another weapon.

Chiefs Hold Multiple Paths To Upgrade WR Room Alongside Rashee Rice

After finishing 6-11, the Chiefs have landed the No. 9 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Additionally, they traded cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams for a package that included the No. 29 overall pick.

So, they have two possible selections in the first round that could be used to add a wide receiver.

On TikTok, Chiefs wide receivers Tyquan Thornton and Rice took questions from fans, according to Pete Grathoff of The Kansas City Star.

One fan asked whether they want a “rookie or vet” in the wide receiver room. Thornton responded with a generic response of “a dog.”

However, Rice, who finished last season with a PFSN WR Impact score of 82.9, which ranked 16th in the NFL, was much more direct with his answer.

“A.J. Brown would be nice in the room, but we go get Carnell Tate or something, that be fire too. I ain’t gonna lie,” Rice said.

Regarding Brown, Philadelphia Eagles insider Jeff McLane says that trading Brown is an “inevitability.”

That said, it would be hard to believe that the Chiefs would trade a first-round pick (assuming that’s around what the asking price would be) for Brown when they could use one at a much more cost-controlled salary.

As for Tate, Todd McShay of “The Ringer” has said that he wouldn’t be surprised to see both Tate and his Ohio State teammate Sonny Styles go inside the top five.

This makes sense as the Tennessee Titans could take Tate, and the New York Giants could be a landing spot for Styles to pair with arguably his best NFL pro comparison, Tremaine Edmunds.

Even if Tate doesn’t go top five, the Cleveland Browns at No. 6 would be another logical landing spot. So, if he were to go top five, Rice wouldn’t necessarily get his wish of Tate, but they could still go for receivers like Makai Lemon or Jordyn Tyson.

In PFSN’s T.J. Randall’s latest 7-round mock draft, he had the Chiefs taking LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane at No. 9 and Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. at No. 29.

That’s certainly another option. No, it’s not Tate, Lemon, or Tyson, but Cooper Jr. would be an excellent addition.

“Swapping the need-picks for the Kansas City Chiefs in this version nets Kansas City Delane and the threatening Omar Cooper Jr. What a duo. Few receivers in the class share the Indiana wideout’s penchant for widening throwing lanes at all three levels,” Randall wrote regarding the selection.

We’ll see what the Chiefs do. They, for the first time in a while and likely for a while, will have not only a top-10 pick but two first-round selections.

Last season, the Chiefs posted a PFSN Offense Impact score of 74.3 (17th in the NFL). As for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who’s coming off a torn ACL late in the season, he finished with a score of 77.2 in PFSN’s QB Impact metric (17th in the NFL).
