Cameron Norrie and Emma Raducanu have made the most of their offseason break in different ways as they prepare for the 2026 season. The two British tennis players have been focused on improving themselves on the court, using the time to work on various aspects of their game and personal growth.
The pair recently connected on social media in a moment that showed their support for one another, highlighting a significant change in Raducanu during the break.
Emma Raducanu Reacts to Cameron Norrie’s Off-Season Experience in Argentina
Norrie ended 2025 ranked World No. 27, a solid finish that came after some impressive performances throughout the year. His biggest win came at the Paris Masters, where he beat World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a stunning upset that shocked the tennis world. At Wimbledon, Norrie made it to the quarter-finals before losing to the same opponent, Alcaraz, who won 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 on the grass courts.
Norrie spent his off-season break in Argentina, where he trained and experienced something different away from the usual tennis routine. While there in Buenos Aires, he posted on Instagram about his time there. He wrote in Spanish, “Two weeks flew by ⚡️ it was a pleasure to share the passion with the locals 🇦🇷 we continue with the same energy in the new year. Thank you all for making us feel at home here 🥩 ☕️☀️🌅 como.”
The post featured many images showing Norrie with his longtime coach, Facundo Lugones, visiting salons, cafes, and restaurants, all while training and practicing at the gym and tennis courts.
Raducanu saw Norrie’s post and left a comment that caught the attention of tennis fans. She wrote, “So happy I read the caption without pressing translate,” showing just how much her Spanish has improved during her break from matches.

Her interest in Spanish started when she played mixed doubles with Alcaraz at the US Open earlier this year. After their campaign ended, Raducanu posted about their time together, including some Spanish words. Alcaraz jokingly responded, saying he was still waiting for her to use more Spanish with him, and the friendly exchange between the two young stars got lots of attention.
Raducanu’s Spanish Interest After Partnering with Carlos Alcaraz
Raducanu has been focused on learning Spanish and French during her off-season, combining language studies with her training work. She’s been setting herself homework to keep her mind sharp while she’s away from matches, which shows her seriousness about improving herself overall. She’s already using her new language skills when talking to her coach, Francisco Roig, her mental coach, Jerome Poupel, and other team members.
The two British players have a good professional relationship. Still, they faced some unwanted media attention at Wimbledon when a journalist asked Norrie if he was dating Raducanu during a press conference, which lots of people criticized as inappropriate. Norrie, who has been with Louise Jacobi since 2019, handled the awkward question well. Even after that incident, both players continue to support each other’s careers, as shown by Raducanu’s comment on Norrie’s recent post.
Raducanu is currently in Barcelona, undergoing a pre-season training block with Roig, where she has the opportunity to practice her Spanish every day during coaching sessions. Roig sometimes gives her instructions in Spanish, which helps her learn in a real way while she’s training. Her main goal during this time is to build a stronger foundation for her game so she can take control of matches more effectively next season.
