WATCH – Controversial Wimbledon Moment When Emma Raducanu’s Compatriot Cameron Norrie Was Asked Whether They’re Dating Emerges

A bizarre moment unfolded at Wimbledon this week when Cameron Norrie was blindsided by an inappropriate question about fellow Brit Emma Raducanu during his post-match interview.

Instead of focusing on his performance, the on-court interviewer steered the conversation into gossip territory, asking Norrie whether he was romantically involved with Raducanu. The 29-year-old was visibly taken aback.

The question caught tennis fans and the media off guard, sparking immediate criticism about the unprofessional nature of the question.

Cameron Norrie Blindsided by Unexpected Dating Question About Emma Raducanu

The incident took place after Norrie advanced to the fourth round of the Championships with a 7-6(5), 6-4, 6-3 victory over Italy’s Mattia Bellucci.

The win marked an impressive run for the British tennis star, who had already defeated Roberto Bautista Agut and pulled off a surprise upset over 12th seed Frances Tiafoe in earlier rounds. But despite his success on the court, the focus shifted elsewhere during his post-match press conference.

As Norrie expected questions about his match or upcoming clash with Chilean qualifier Nicolás Jarry, the reporter instead asked, “Apart from everyone here loving tennis, some of the gossip has been about who Emma Raducanu is dating. Can I ask if you’re dating her?”

The question visibly caught Norrie off guard. Looking puzzled, he replied, “Sorry?” prompting the reporter to repeat the question: “I was wondering if you’re dating her, please.” Trying to maintain his composure, Norrie answered, “I’m not, no. You can ask her. I don’t know,” signaling his discomfort with the abrupt change in topic.

The awkward exchange immediately sparked backlash from fans and tennis insiders, who noted the interview’s unprofessional tone. Many pointed out that post-match interviews should focus on the player’s performance and upcoming matches, not personal relationships or tabloid speculation.

Adding to the inappropriateness of the question is the fact that Norrie has been in a long-term relationship with girlfriend Louise Jacobi since 2019. The timing made the question even more awkward, as it ignored Norrie’s established relationship status.

Tennis journalist Ben Rothenberg posted a video of the moment on X with the caption: “The video of this, with the unabridged full question, is somehow worse.”

Emma Raducanu Falls to Aryna Sabalenka in Third Round

While Norrie is through to the fourth round, Emma Raducanu’s journey at Wimbledon 2025 came to an end, as she suffered a 6-7(6), 4-6 defeat to World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. This is the 22-year-old’s second defeat to the Belarusian in as many matches between the two.

Raducanu’s loss means she’ll miss out on the second week of her home Grand Slam, though her third-round appearance still represents solid progress. The former U.S. Open champion has been working her way back up the rankings after dealing with injuries and coaching changes over the past two years.

Following her singles defeat, Raducanu is next scheduled to compete at the Citi Open in Washington, which starts on July 21. The hard-court tournament will give her a chance to build momentum heading into the U.S. Open later this summer.
