After the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense let them down against the Cincinnati Bengals, Aaron Rodgers and company now sit at 4-2. They have a respectable record, but Rodgers’ receiving corps leaves plenty to be desired. As the trade deadline approaches, keep an eye on the Las Vegas Raiders, who can help push Pittsburgh to the playoffs.
While he may be battling some injuries, this 22-touchdown wide receiver could be the perfect player to join Rodgers with the Steelers.
Reinforcements Could Be on the Way for Pittsburgh Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers
As part of PFSN’s Top 10 NFL Trade Candidates article, the first name mentioned was wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. Now, in his third year in Las Vegas, he spent his first four seasons with the New England Patriots. Interestingly, 12 of his 20 career receiving touchdowns have come with the Raiders (despite not scoring in 2025), along with his two rushing touchdowns in 2023.
“It seems inevitable that he will soon be wearing another jersey. But unlike others in the past, he has shown up to work and played hard day in and day out,” PFSN’s Josh Weil said. Adding, “It would make sense for the Raiders to get an asset for his services, especially if they have him down to four targets a game.”
The Buffalo Bills were the other team in line to trade for Meyers, but word around the league has been that the Steelers are in the market for a wide receiver. Knowing Rodgers and his abilities, this comes as no surprise. Rodgers was seen yelling at a few of his teammates on Thursday Night Football, though the defense cost him in the end.
DK Metcalf dropped a huge pass that turned into one of Rodgers’ two interceptions on the night. Rodgers, who has 14 touchdowns to five interceptions, has seen four of his five INTs come in two games. While he had four passing touchdowns against the Bengals, another star wideout could be exactly what this team needs to take head coach Mike Tomlin’s offense to the next level.

Through six games, Rodgers has earned a C in PFSN’s QB Impact Metric. Meyers, who’s stuck with turnover-prone quarterback Geno Smith, also has a C grade, down from the C+ he had last season. As Weil said, four targets in two of his previous four games simply isn’t going to cut it.
Meyers hasn’t surpassed 40 receiving yards in his last three games. He’s yet to score a touchdown this season, despite being targeted 22 times in his first two games. Knowing how much that number has dropped, it would be no surprise to see the Raiders trade him in the coming weeks.
