Top 10 NFL Trade Candidates: Jakobi Meyers, Chris Olave Among Players We Want to See Dealt Before Deadline

As we approach Week 7 in the NFL, there are a lot of questions to be answered. Some are for players to keep performing at a high level, some are asking players to step up, and some are for teams to make roster changes to build their rosters for a playoff run.

    Jakobi Meyers, Las Vegas Raiders

Not much has changed for Meyers or the Raiders since we last posted, but it seems inevitable that he will soon be wearing another jersey. But unlike others in the past, he has shown up to work and played hard day in and day out.

During the season, he had 29 catches for 329 yards and was one year removed from a season in which he had 1,027 yards and four touchdowns with suboptimal quarterback play. It would make sense for the Raiders to get an asset for his services, especially if they have him down to four targets a game.

Potential Suitors: Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills

    De’Von Achane, Miami Dolphins

With the Dolphins’ season continuing to spiral, a reset could bring success back to South Beach. De’Von Achane is an extremely valuable player on the field and at a very reasonable salary.

Trading him would allow the Dolphins to give the young Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright duo a chance to realize their potential on the field and to get a difference-maker — or a few — in the draft next year. The move would also allow a young stud to spend the prime of his career chasing playoff success, which is always great for the game.

Potential Suitors: Chicago Bears, Houston Texans

    Breece Hall, New York Jets

Staying in the basement of the AFC East, Breece Hall is a logical trade candidate for many reasons, and the Jets would be foolish not to at least entertain offers for most of their roster after starting 0-6 on the season. Plus, he has thrown out the #Free20 in a recent post. It remains to be seen whether he meant he wants the ball more or that he wants to leave the Jets, but this is never a good sign.

Before the offense completely stalled out in London against the Broncos, Hall was coming off two games where he made the most of his fourteen carries. In total, he ran for 194 yards on 28 carries. He is still looking for his first touchdown of the season, but his numbers outside of that look strong as ever, and I think he could make a difference for a playoff team.

Potential Suitors: Washington Commanders, Chicago Bears

    David Njoku, Cleveland Browns

David Njoku had to know that when the Browns drafted Harold Fannin Jr., the writing was on the wall if the season didn’t go to plan, and the Browns definitely did not plan on losing five of their first six games.

Now, the Browns played Njoku in just 44% of snaps in their most recent game due to injury, and Fannin played in 80%, showing that they trust him to fill in for Njoku totally, should his stead need to be filled. Look for this to be one of the first moves made once Njoku is cleared of any long-term injury.

Potential Suitors: Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers

    Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints

Chris Olave looks healthy as ever and is handling a massive workload in the current Saints offense. However, he is a candidate for many teams to trade for, given that he is still just 25 years old and has another year left on his rookie contract.

I think he is a strong fit in any offense, but he could be a reliable receiver for a young quarterback to lean on as they adjust to the league. Olave is currently seventh in the league with 39 receptions, and he has 342 yards and a touchdown. Look for several teams to inquire about his services, as the Saints have no reason not to be sellers.

Potential Suitors: New York Giants, New England Patriots

    Trey Hendrickson, Cincinnati Bengals

Things went pretty sour for Trey Hendrickson and the Bengals this offseason. They could not agree on a contract extension for whatever reason, and Hendrickson is currently playing in the final year of his current deal. The Bengals could get a nice return for him if they do not intend to pay him and make him available.

The reigning NFL sacks leader has had at least 13.5 sacks in four of the last five years, and has four through six games again this year. Look for a team to make a firm offer, acquire one of the best ends in football, and extend him immediately.

Potential Suitors: Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers

    Jaelan Phillips, Miami Dolphins

Finally, Jaelan Phillips looks fully healthy and could be a steal for a team that gets him in a defense where the attention isn’t solely on him. He is just two seasons removed from being the fourth-best edge rusher in the NFL, per our PFSN EDGEi rankings, where he received an A grade for his impact score of 95.2.

Look for teams looking to find lightning in a bottle to make an aggressive offer for his services, as the Dolphins won’t want to sell him cheaply, given what he has done in the league already.

Potential Suitors: Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions

    Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints

Juwan Johnson is a less talked-about trade candidate than everyone else on this list, but teams may be looking to give the Saints a call to try to lock down their tight end situation for a few years. He has been consistently solid for the Saints, with a second straight C+ season, per our PFSN TEi Rankings, and is under contract for another two seasons after this year.

The Cincinnati Bengals could be a sneaky play, as they’ve been trying to be competitive until Joe Burrow returns. Securing the tight end position among their other weapons could make them dangerous if they sneak into the playoffs. If not, they play together to prepare for next season.

Potential Suitors: Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars

    DeAndre Hopkins, Baltimore Ravens

DeAndre Hopkins was brought into this Baltimore run-heavy scheme to add a veteran presence to their wide receiver corps, and he has done that phenomenally. The team, however, has a 1-5 record and may be looking to next season if Lamar Jackson’s return from injury can’t spark a run. I expect Hopkins to move to a team with a more pass-heavy scheme and to keep contributing to whatever his team needs.

Potential Suitors: New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills

    Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens

Among those same Baltimore Ravens, Mark Andrews has been a staple of that offense, and aside from the playoff drop, it has been nothing but great memories for Ravens fans with him. They have Isaiah Likely on the roster, so it isn’t like they won’t have a tight end who has to learn the system. They could get a decent return for Andrews, an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year, and if they haven’t signed him yet, it seems like they may part ways at the end of the season anyway.

It is clear that Andrews didn’t have the connection with Cooper Rush that he did with Lamar Jackson, but with Jackson set to return after their bye, this is a tough decision that they need to make, which will likely come after their must-win game vs the Chicago Bears in Week 8.

Potential Suitors: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars
