Is Kyren Williams Injured? Breaking Down the Rams RB’s Slow Start in Week 6 vs. Ravens

Los Angeles Rams RB Kyren Williams was pretty quiet in the first half against the Baltimore Ravens. Is Williams hurt?

Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams is one of the most reliable players that Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford can find on his team. He’s been pretty good for the Rams, who are currently tied 3-3 with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Williams, though, has not been as effective against the Rams. Is he hurt?

What’s Wrong With Rams’ Kyren Williams?

At halftime, Williams had only five carries for the Rams for 18 yards and no touchdowns. But he found the end zone in the third quarter, putting the Rams up 10-3. Williams is now up to six carries for 21 yards and that TD. Tyler Higbee added a touchdown later in the third quarter for the Rams, too, for a 17-3 lead.

He’s been doing his best to rack up yards, but the Ravens’ defense has so far done a great job.

At one point in the first half, Williams and Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua both limped back to the Rams locker room. How Williams feels in the second half might turn into a big story as the game goes along.

On a Rams TD drive, LA was in a fourth-and-three situation. Stafford looked downfield and saw Williams open. As Williams reached back to make a circus catch, he landed in bounds and set the team up for his ultimate TD run.

According to the PFSN Offense Impact metrics, the Rams entered Sunday’s game with an 83.3 Offense Impact Score and a B grade. As for the PFSN RB Impact metrics, Williams has an 82.4 RB Impact Score and a B- grade for his efforts.

Now that Williams is back on the field, Stafford can look to use him both as a receiver and a trusty running back, too.

Fantasy Football Outlook for Williams

Before Sunday’s game, fantasy football players were building their teams. PFSN’s Kyle Soppe offered some thoughts on getting Williams.

“Kyren Williams was the focal point of everything for the Rams on Thursday night in the upset loss at the hands of the 49ers, racking up 131 yards of offense and scoring twice,” Soppe wrote. “His eight catches gives him as many in October as in September, and while the rushing was a slog for much of the night, a late 20-yarder helped save the day in that regard. And it could have been even better.”

“Williams lost a fumble for the second straight game, this one coming on a last-second punch-out with a touchdown in sight,” Soppe wrote. “As if the potential game-losing play wasn’t bad enough, he was stuffed on a fourth-and-one to officially end the game, a drive that had the potential to end in a third touchdown for Williams.

“Those missed opportunities leave the door open for the Blake Corum experience, one that seemed to be on thin ice after he mishandled a pitch on his second opportunity of the contest,” Soppe wrote. “On Thursday night, Williams played 90.6% of the offensive snaps, a specific spike from his 73% rate through four weeks.” Williams looks to improve on his averages and statistics against the Ravens.
