The Tennessee Titans are facing uncertainty at wide receiver ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Star receiver Calvin Ridley is dealing with an injury that limited his playing time in last week’s loss to Houston, leaving fans wondering if he will be able to suit up for Week 5 as the Titans aim to rebound from a 0-4 start.
What Is Calvin Ridley’s Status for Week 5
The Titans have had a disastrous start to the 2025 season, and their road only appears to be getting tougher ahead. While it was expected that rookie Cam Ward would need to adjust to the pace of the NFL, the rest of the offense hasn’t delivered either, putting more pressure on the rookie QB.
That struggle bottomed out in Sunday’s 26-0 shutout loss to the Texans, and now a new concern has emerged. Ridley, expected to be the focal point of the passing game, is questionable for Sunday’s game in Arizona.
Ridley’s snap count dropped to 54% against Houston after playing 86% of offensive snaps in each of the first three games, and head coach Brian Callahan confirmed that it was directly related to a knee and elbow injury he sustained during the game.
While he had managed to finish the game despite the injury, catching two passes for 30 yards on three targets, Ridley did not participate in Wednesday’s practice session to begin the week. He didn’t practice on Thursday either and was limited on Friday before eventually being declared questionable for the game.
With his questionable designation, Ridley’s final status won’t be determined until roughly 90 minutes before Sunday’s 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. However, after missing two of three practices, it appears unlikely that he will suit up against the Cardinals.
The injury comes at a challenging time for Ridley, who has struggled to find chemistry with Ward through the first four weeks. He has yet to score a touchdown this season and has been held under 30 yards in three of four games.
If Ridely is ruled out for Sunday’s game, rookie Elic Ayomanor would step up to serve as Tennessee’s primary receiver. He is the Titans’ leading receiver through four weeks, recording 12 receptions for 151 yards and two touchdowns, and is ranked 58th in PFSN’s Wide Receiver Impact metric.
Beyond Ayomanor, the Titans have limited options. Targets would need to be shared among Tyler Lockett, Chimere Dike, and Van Jefferson, who have combined for just 71 yards and no touchdowns. Running backs Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears could also see expanded roles as receiving options, though Spears is currently listed as questionable for the game as well.
