Purdue and Ole Miss Join the Race for Rising Texas Guard Chase Richardson

Purdue head coach Matt Painter has wasted no time reshaping his roster this offseason. Now, his attention has shifted to the future. According to college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, Painter and his staff have extended an offer to Chase Richardson.

They will not have an easy path to land him. Ole Miss has also offered Richardson and is firmly in the mix. The Rebels are coming off a Sweet 16 run that ended in a loss to Michigan State and are aiming to reload with promising young talent.

Purdue, too, saw its season end in the Sweet 16, falling to Houston. With both programs hungry for more and actively retooling, the battle for Richardson is heating up.

More Programs in the Chase for 2027 Standout

The race for Chase Richardson’s commitment goes beyond just Purdue and Ole Miss. Several other programs have taken notice of the rising point guard, whose stock continues to climb with each showing.

Richardson already holds offers from SMU, Pepperdine, UT Arlington, Wichita State and several more. His blend of court vision, feel for the game, athleticism and passing accuracy, whether in transition or the half-court, has made him a standout among his peers.

Jeff Goodman even expressed surprise at Richardson’s omission from the Top 100 players in the Class of 2027, citing his high IQ, unselfish style, and ability to elevate those around him.
As more schools line up, it is clear that Richardson is trending toward national breakout status.
