Top Remaining Free Agent QBs: Aaron Rodgers, Jimmy Garoppolo Among Best Available After Kirk Cousins Joins Raiders

Which NFL quarterbacks are still available on the free-agent market? Here's a look at the four veteran QBs who are still unsigned.

We’ve reached the point in the 2026 NFL free agency period when many of the top players have found new homes and the trickle of deals has significantly slowed down.

With that said, there are still quite a few notable players who remain unsigned, including several veteran quarterbacks who are generating intrigue.

Which QBs Are Still Unsigned in 2026 NFL Free Agency?

1) Aaron Rodgers
2) Jimmy Garoppolo

3) Russell Wilson
4) Tyrod Taylor

At this point, it’s unclear if Aaron Rodgers is planning to play football next season. If he returns for the 2026 campaign, he would turn 43 years old in the middle of the season, which would be his 22nd year in the NFL. There’s a good chance he would do so with the Pittsburgh Steelers, as his former head coach in Green Bay, Mike McCarthy, recently got hired into the same role with Pittsburgh.

While PFSN projects a one-year, $12.65 million contract for Rodgers if he opts to play, it’s possible that he will call it a career and retire. At one point, the Minnesota Vikings seemed like a potential landing spot for Rodgers given J.J. McCarthy’s struggles and the legendary QB’s ties to Kevin O’Connell (plus all of the rumors from last offseason), but the Kyler Murray signing put an end to that speculation. Now, it certainly seems that Rodgers is deciding between Pittsburgh or retirement.

Last season, Rodgers ranked No. 29 in the NFL in PFSN’s QB Impact metric with a 71.4 grade. Rodgers is obviously no longer an MVP candidate at this stage of his career, but he still graded better than six other starting quarterbacks in 2025, including Bryce Young (69.1), Geno Smith (68.6), and Shedeur Sanders (56.9). As a stopgap option for a QB-needy team, you could certainly do worse.

After Rodgers, the next-best-graded options in free agency are Tyrod Taylor (40th-ranked QBi) and Russell Wilson (42nd-ranked QBi). Jimmy Garoppolo didn’t appear in enough games to qualify for a QBi grade, but the 34-year-old is a solid backup option as well. He has played well in limited reps in recent years.

Teams looking for a younger, higher-upside option at quarterback could turn to the trade market since Anthony Richardson is widely considered to be available for the right price from the Indianapolis Colts.

“We’ll see. I got with his agent … nothing has materialized at this point,” Colts GM Chris Ballard said recently at the NFL’s annual meeting. “So, we’ll see what happens going forward. I’m proud of Anthony. He’s had some bad luck, unfortunately.”

This is considered a relatively weak QB class in both free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft, so it’s a tough offseason to be quarterback-needy team.
