‘This Is Our Window’ — Zay Flowers Pulls No Punches About Ravens’ Super Bowl Goal, Sense of Urgency

Zay Flowers states the Baltimore Ravens are in their championship window, raising the stakes for the team's upcoming season.

The Baltimore Ravens have made the playoffs three of the last five years (2021-2025). The franchise had a mixture of early playoff exits and one deep playoff run that didn’t result in a Super Bowl appearance. But maybe it ends in 2026… or so the belief goes.

Zay Flowers Feels a Sense of Urgency To Win A Super Bowl as A Raven

In 2021, the Ravens failed to make the playoffs after an 8-9 record; however, they reached the AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs and fell short with a 10-17 loss in the 2023 season.

Lamar Jackson finished with 272 yards passing, 54 yards rushing, a passing touchdown, and an interception in the loss. Ravens’ wide receiver Zay Flowers finished with five receptions for 115 receiving yards, a touchdown, and a fumble.

“Honestly, I still [haven’t] gotten over it,” Flowers said, via a transcript from the team. “I still think about it, but I know next year, we have a chance to get back there and try to make it to the Super Bowl, so that’s why I’m working every day and going hard every day to get back to that moment.”

On Wednesday, Flowers took part in the Ravens’ voluntary offseason program, and during his media availability, he was asked if there was a sense of urgency to win a Super Bowl.

“Yes, absolutely [there’s a sense of increased urgency]. We all know that, though. I feel like the whole team knows that. I feel like everybody has a window, like different teams,” said Flowers.

“It doesn’t matter who it is, you are going to have a window, and you have to just seize your opportunity. And this is our window, I feel like.”

Flowers was also asked if quarterback Lamar Jackson is ready, and he replied, “[Lamar Jackson] is ready, man. I feel like we answer that every year, and he is always ready. So, he’s even more ready this year. He’s excited about the coaching staff. He’s excited about getting to work with Coach Declan. So yes, he’s ready to go. He wants to finish. He wants to get a ring.”

Head coach Jesse Minter shared last month that Jackson was excited about the new opportunities this season, coming off the injured list.

“He’s excited for us to connect, for us to build a relationship, for us to trust each other, for us to be able to talk through things, for us to take his input on things. But also, being willing to talk through it, and not just go with something,” Minter said of the ninth-year QB.

“I’m just excited about him. You don’t become the level of player that he has without a great work ethic, without being a great teammate, without being a leader. Just excited for him to continue to grow, evolve, and become an even better version of Lamar.

“I know Lamar’s excited. I think he is excited about some of the changes. We’ve had a lot of good connection points, but the offseason program is voluntary. We’re excited to get a chance to work with all the guys, whoever wants to show up. We feel confident that a lot of guys will be there.”

Flowers was also asked about his contract following the news that Jaxon Smith-Njigba had become the highest-paid receiver in league history. However, Flowers deferred to his agent but sent his congratulations to JSN.

“Congrats to him. He did that one,” Flowers said. “I ain’t really paying attention to [my contract], if I’m being honest. I go train every day. I let my agents handle that.”
