Will Xavier Legette Play Against the San Francisco 49ers?

In the 30–27 win, Legette fueled the comeback with four catches for 83 yards and a touchdown before injuring his hip late, putting his Week 12 status in doubt. Yet, he offered a positive update Monday, saying, “My plan is to play on Monday, so we’ll see how the week goes.”

From the man himself, it sounds like Legette will play next week against the 49ers on Monday Night Football. However, the final decision will ultimately be made by head coach Dave Canales and the training staff.

The former South Carolina Gamecock is having an okay year, but still has a lot to do to live up to the potential of his first-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. In nine games this season, Legette has caught 24 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns. In PFSN’s Wide Receiver Impact metrics, he ranks 71st with a letter grade of D and an impact score of 64.5.

Comparatively, he caught 49 passes for 497 yards for four touchdowns in his 2024 campaign. Despite it sounding like Legette will play, here’s how the rest of the expansive receiver room stacks up:

Tetairoia McMillian

The Panthers selected Tetairoia McMillian with the eighth pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. The rookie wide receiver was selected out of the University of Arizona.

In 11 games this season, McMillian has 54 receptions for 748 yards and four touchdowns. In just 11 games, he became Bryce Young’s top target. Panthers fans should be very excited about his development in the coming years.

Jalen Coker

Jalen Coker signed with the team as a 2024 Undrafted Free Agent. During his two years with the team, he has struggled with injuries, playing in a total of 16 games thus far. Coker has only played five games this season. In those games, he has 11 receptions for 118 yards.

Hunter Renfrow

Renfrow is in his sixth year in the NFL. It is his first year with the Panthers, following his time with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he was a quality receiver.

This season, Renfrow has only played in six games. In these six games, he’s caught 15 passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns.

Jimmy Horn Jr.

Jimmy Horn Jr. was selected in the 6th round of the 2025 NFL Draft with the 208th pick. He spent time in both South Florida and Colorado. In seven games, he hasn’t done much. He has six receptions for 66 yards. He’s also used out of the backfield and has 44 rushing yards on seven attempts.

Brycen Tremayne

Brycen Tremayne is in his second year in the NFL. He started his career with the Washington Commanders before joining the Panthers. In 10 games, he’s caught 12 passes for 133 yards.

Legette’s availability will be a key factor for Carolina’s passing attack on Monday night, but if he can’t go, the Panthers have depth options ready to step up against San Francisco.
