Oklahoma vs. Vanderbilt Prediction and Preview
The Sooners (17-5, 5-4 SEC) rank third nationally in scoring offense at 88.0 points per game, a mark that would set a program record. Their starting five averages 69.0 points, ranking second nationally, with all five starters in double figures.
Other than a quiet outing against the Texas Longhorns, star freshman Aaliyah Chavez (a former No.1 recruit in the country) has been spectacular, earning six SEC Freshman of the Week awards, which is the second-most in program history. She needs four more to top Courtney Paris’ total (nine).
Senior center Raegan Beers provides the perfect complement to Chavez’s perimeter brilliance. The former Oregon State transfer leads the nation with 56 career double-doubles and has recorded 11 this season alone, also a national best. The 6’4″ All-American is averaging approximately 17 points and 11 rebounds while shooting over 60% from the floor.

For all the Sooners’ talent, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt have similar profiles in terms of points scored and points allowed. The road team has lost four of the last seven games, struggling against elite competition, while the Commodores have won two straight after suffering their first two losses in the last week of January.
Vandy sophomore guard Mikayla Blakes will be the differentiating factor between the two teams in this game. Blakes, who is second in the nation in scoring, has scored 67 points with 12 assists over the last two games.
Blakes is remarkably efficient and dangerously creative, and last season set the NCAA freshman single-game scoring record (55 points) while twice eclipsing 50 points. Her ability to take over games in crunch time makes Vanderbilt dangerous regardless of the deficit, and she will carry the Commodores over the Sooners.
Prediction: Oklahoma 68, Vanderbilt 76
