Ohio State vs Oregon Prediction and Preview
Ohio State has outplayed most of its rivals thanks to the tandem of guard Jaloni Cambridge and center Elsa Lemmila. Cambridge, a five-star recruit and the No. 3-ranked women’s college basketball player in the Class of 2024, has taken charge of the Buckeyes’ offense during their three-game winning streak.
The 5’7″ sophomore guard has averaged 28.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game in Ohio State’s wins over Wisconsin, Nebraska, and No. 24 Washington, as the opposing guards could not stop her. Moreover, she has shot 58.9% in that stretch, including 57.1% from the 3-point line.
Cambridge’s scoring surge would not be possible without the presence of 6’6″ Lemmila. The Espoo, Finland, native has proven to be Ohio State’s tower of power during that streak, averaging 12.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.3 steals, and 4.3 blocks per game.

The duo has kept Ohio State winning despite the absence of Kylee Kitts, who hasn’t played since injuring her shoulder in the Buckeyes’ 71-69 win over TCU on January 19. The 6’4″ Â Kitts, the younger sister of South Carolina forward Chloe Kitts, plays as a hybrid guard/forward for Ohio State, and she leads the team in rebounding this season, averaging 7.1 rebounds per game.
Kitts’ injury has forced the Buckeyes to play with a small-ball starting lineup of Jaloni Cambridge, Chance Gray, Ava Watson, and Kennedy Cambridge, and Lemilla manning the post. Ohio State has been 4-1 without Kitts, but its lack of a big man would be tested when it visits Oregon, which prides itself on a solid frontline made up of Ehis Etute and Mia Jacobs.
Etute and Jacobs have played excellent ball during Oregon’s four-game run and are expected to produce alongside leading scorer Katie Fiso, as the Ducks seek to stretch their winning streak to five.
Etute, a 6’0″ sophomore out of Dudelange, Luxembourg, has averaged a double-double of 18 ppg and 10 rpg in the four wins against Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland, and Illinois. She was almost unstoppable during that stretch, shooting 71.4% from the field. Jacobs, a 6’2″ senior, has averaged 12.3 ppg, 6.0 rpg, and 1.5 bpg, and in Oregon’s 76-73 win over Illinois, she tallied 26 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 blocks.
Fiso has consistently guided the Ducks during the streak, putting up double-figure numbers in three of the four victories. The 5’11” sophomore has tallied 12.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 7.3 apg, and 1.0 spg in those games and is set to have a showdown with Jaloni Cambridge on Sunday.
It is the sixth meeting between Ohio State and Oregon, and the Buckeyes own a 4-1 lead in their head-to-head. The last time they faced each other was on January 12, 2025, when Ohio State won 69-60.
Both teams will be determined to stretch their winning streaks and climb the Big Ten Conference rankings as the regular season nears its conclusion. A win by either team would help their drive to secure a better seeding in the Big Ten Tournament and possibly gain a berth in the NCAA Tournament. It will be a close game between Ohio State and Oregon, but in the end, Cambridge and the Buckeyes will have enough firepower to stop the Ducks.
Prediction: Ohio State 68, Oregon 65
