Iowa State vs. BYU Projected Lineups and Key Matchups

Iowa State Cyclones Starting Lineup

  • Jada Williams
  • Kenzie Hare
  • Arianna Jackson
  • Evangelia Paulk
  • Audi Crooks

Junior center Audi Crooks remains the engine driving everything Iowa State does. The Lisa Leslie Award finalist leads the nation in scoring and has scored in double figures in 89 consecutive games, the longest active streak in NCAA women’s basketball and the longest by a Big 12 player since Brittney Griner’s 116-game run from 2010-2013.

Crooks became the fastest player in Big 12 history to reach 2,000 career points, accomplishing the feat in just 89 games and surpassing Courtney Paris (94 games) and Griner (95 games). Against Utah on Saturday, she poured in 26 points, 24 of them in the second half, when the Cyclones pulled away.

BYU Cougars Starting Lineup

  • Sydney Benally
  • Delaney Gibb
  • Marya Hudgins
  • Lara Rohkohl
  • Brinley Cannon

Delaney Gibb is the engine of this BYU team, and when she’s contained, the Cougars’ offense struggles. That said, Brinley Cannon is a good scoring form, Olivia Hamlin has provided a spark from the bench, and Sydney Benally can get hot from beyond the arc.

Iowa State vs. BYU Prediction and Preview

Iowa State leads the all-time series 3-2 and has won the last two meetings. The teams split their matchups last season, with BYU winning 74-68 on January 3, 2025, before Iowa State took the rematch.

For Iowa State, protecting the basketball will be essential. BYU ranks second in the Big 12 with 10.7 steals per game, and the Cyclones averaged 16.8 turnovers during their five-game losing streak. Williams has been much cleaner with the ball lately, and keeping it that way is crucial.

For BYU, the Cougars must find ways to get Gibb going early. Whether that means running more ball screens or getting her the ball in transition, BYU cannot afford another game where their best player takes 10 shots and makes one.

Iowa State’s Audi Crooks leads the nation in scoring with 25.9 points per game. Teammate Jada Williams has scored at least 15 points seven times in Big 12 play, including a 44-point game against Cincinnati last month.

BYU’s offense ranks 12th in conference play and will not be able to keep up with the Cooks-Williams duo in this game. The Cyclones are scoring 74.4 points per game in conference games and should be able to pull away from the Cougars for a relatively easy road win.

Prediction: Iowa State 74, BYU 65
