Angel Reese put together a historic rebounding performance as the Atlanta Dream defeated the Los Angeles Sparks, but a viral sequence involving Cameron Brink quickly became the center of attention.

The Dream completed a perfect 4-0 West Coast road trip with Monday’s victory, but the conversation surrounding Reese extended beyond her record-setting night.
The third-year forward finished with 11 points and a league record 26 rebounds, surpassing Chamique Holdsclaw’s previous single-game mark of 24 boards that had stood since 2003.
Reese also broke A’ja Wilson’s single-season rebounding record (451), reaching 458 boards for the year.
However, a sequence in which Brink defended Reese on consecutive attempts near the basket quickly went viral.
The Sparks forward stayed with Reese on the first attempt before challenging another drive at the rim, leading to criticism of the latter’s finishing ability.

The sequence gave Reese’s critics an opportunity to question her offensive game despite her significant impact in other areas.
“Look at the elbows, she fouls EVERY TIME,” another person wrote.
One user was even more dismissive of Reese’s offensive ability. “God, she’s terrible in hoops. How do these women get money for this kind of stuff.”

Reese’s struggles on offense, especially her finishing around the paint and limited skill set, have been a topic of conversation in the league for a while.

Atlanta’s victory moved the Dream to 25-13, keeping them within striking distance of third place with six games remaining.
