Atlanta forward Angel Reese led the Dream to a 108-101 win over the Indiana Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday evening to improve to 10-4 for the season. The Dream’s impressive win came at the expense of Reese’s storied rival, Fever’s Caitlin Clark, in the first of a home-and-home series against each other this season.
Fans Reacted to Angel Reese Usurping Caitlin Clark’s Big Night
The Dream’s game against the Fever had undercurrents of rivalry as both players showed off their signature sneakers ahead of the fixture. Earlier this week, Nike announced the release of the Nike Caitlin 1, the Fever star’s first signature shoes with the global apparel giant.
On the other hand, Reese debuted her Reebok Angel Reese 1 ‘Poison Angel’ colorway on the same night, cradling them in her arms before the game against the Fever and upstaging Clark’s big night.
WNBA fans on X had mixed reactions to the Reese versus Clark rivalry, opening a new chapter off the court.
‘Hovah 76’ declared that Reese showcased her top-tier celebrity status in the WNBA with the new colorway on the same day as Clark’s coming-out night.

Ray Norman applauded the Reebok marketing team for usurping Clark’s big Nike reveal.

‘Geez Isley’ was hyped by Reese scooping Clark’s big day.

‘Heavy Crown’ sided with Reese’s marketing team in the battle against the Caitlin 1s.

Clark’s Racer Blue colorway will be released on October 1 and will feature details, including the Fever star’s initials and vaunted number 22, etched on it.

Speaking to reporters before the game against Reese’s Dream, Clark expressed her excitement about the release of her signature sneakers.
“Even yesterday, knowing I was going to post that early in the morning. I didn’t sleep very well. I was just so excited,” Clark said. “And I went to bed late, obviously, because we played the night before, so kind of like a kid on Christmas, you get to show the world what you have been working on for a couple years.”
Reese finished the game with 21 points on 57.1 shooting from the floor and 11 rebounds, while Clark managed 26 points, two rebounds, and seven assists on 47.1 shooting from the floor and 40% from beyond the arc.
