‘Angel Reese Is Maturing. CC Isn’t.’ — WNBA Analyst Delivers Scathing Critique of Caitlin Clark’s Recent Antics

Caitlin Clark lacks maturity compared to rival Angel Reese, according to a scathing critique from analyst Jason Whitlock.

Indiana star Caitlin Clark was imperious during the Fever’s 85-75 win over the Connecticut Sun on Saturday afternoon. Clark managed 25 points on 58.8% shooting from the floor and 50% shooting from beyond the arc, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists in the Fever’s third straight win.

The night ended with a technical foul for Clark after a frustrating night against overly physical defending by Connecticut players.

Jason Whitlock Compared Caitlin Clark’s ‘Maturity’ to Angel Reese

On Monday, controversial analyst Jason Whitlock criticized Clark’s conduct during her WNBA career, while praising Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese’s maturity in comparison.

“Love ya, man. But if we thought CC was gonna behave like everyone else in the WNBA, we wouldn’t have jumped on board. We thought CC was gonna bring a classier style, be a role model for young girls. Angel Reese is maturing. CC isn’t. Sad,” Whitlock wrote.

Clark and Reese have long been tabbed as rivals since their heated college basketball rivalry while playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes and LSU Tigers, respectively. The pair has been compared throughout their WNBA careers after being selected in the first round of the 2024 draft.

Reese has cemented herself as one of the most prolific rebounders in WNBA history after moving from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream, while Clark is considered one of the league’s premier talents for her consistent scoring.

Clark was hit with her fourth technical foul of the season against the Sun and has been fined $500 three times.

Under the league’s new collective bargaining agreement, she will be fined $1,000 for her fourth technical foul. An eighth technical foul would trigger a $1,500 fine and a one-game suspension.

While speaking to reporters during her postgame news conference, Clark blasted referee Tyler Mirkovich for a delay-of-game call on a kick, resulting in a technical foul free throw for the Sun.

“The technical, I didn’t need an explanation,” Clark said. “I deserved it, but it was worth it. The delay of the game made no sense. It felt like Tyler [Mirkovich] wanted to insert himself into the game. That was ridiculous. Just not a point in the game he needed to call that.”

“I went and got the ball. It went off my foot and off the scorer’s table. He gave us a delay of game, which is a team technical foul. You can ask Tyler. I don’t agree with that.”

Despite Connecticut players taking a physical approach to defense, Clark was not awarded a free throw all night by the officials, leading the Fever guard to repeatedly argue with the referees.
