The WNBA has found itself at the center of another wave of controversy after Enes Kanter and Royce White added to the noise. Amid all of this, another controversial opinion surrounding Caitlin Clark’s performance in the league is going viral.
The analyst believes Clark’s influence on the WNBA is far greater than what her stats show. In fact, her decision not to get involved in the drama around her might even be equally significant.
Colin Cowherd Praises Caitlin Clark’s Mindset With Stephen Curry, Michael Jordan Comparison
Colin Cowherd acknowledged the criticism surrounding the WNBA before turning to praise Clark. He poured his heart out on ‘The Herd‘s latest episode and talked about how Clark is refusing to take a stance on controversy and focusing on her basketball performance.
“She is Steph Curry. But with kind of a Michael Jordan mindset, all business, all basketball,” Cowherd said. He added that Clark has “no opinion or comment on the controversies.”
Cowherd pointed to Clark’s 37-point, 10-assist performance over the weekend and said that she has recorded five games with at least 30 points and 10 assists, highlighting her contribution to Stephanie White’s team.
“The Fever offense is not only number one in this league at 97 a game. It’s the best offense in league history because of Caitlin Clark,” Cowherd said.

“So with all this drama and nonsense around her, Caitlin Clark, number one in assists, number three in scoring, best offense in league history, greatest shooting range in league history. She’s not driving the controversy like Michael Jordan. She’s all business.”
Cowherd also raised the concern that controversy is always harmful to every sport, citing examples in which intense scrutiny helped generate more attention.
That is where he sees Clark’s role as particularly important, leading into his comparison with the Chicago Bulls legend.
In a 2020 ESPN interview, Jordan said, “I never thought of myself as an activist, I thought of myself as a basketball player.” He added, “I wasn’t a politician when I was playing my sport; I was focused on my craft.”
That mindset closely reflects what Cowherd sees in Clark. The Fever star’s numbers on the court also back up that approach. She is averaging 22.1 points, 8.3 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game this season.
If she maintains that level of production, the Fever are all set to make a deep playoff run this fall.
