WNBA star Caitlin Clark erupted for a double-double of 37 points, 10 assists, and 3 rebounds in the Indiana Fever’s 113-90 win over the Chicago Sky on Sunday evening. Clark now has more 30 point/10 assists games than the rest of the WNBA players in history combined.
That electric performance prompted one former NFL star to deliver a resounding endorsement of the Fever star’s talents.
Former NFL QB Backs Caitlin Clark in MVP Race
In a lengthy post on X, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin sent a pointed message to Clark’s detractors about the guard’s place in the WNBA.
“The WNBA has never seen anything like Caitlin Clark. Olivia Miles is the WNBA Rookie of the Year. Kelsey Mitchell is the best scorer in the WNBA. A’ja Wilson is the best player in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark is the Most Valuable Player in the WNBA,” Griffin wrote.
“Caitlin Clark has more 30+ point and 10+ assists games in her career than the rest of the WNBA has in league history. She’s only been in the WNBA for three years and missed almost all of last season. Caitlin Clark haters gotta just accept that she really like that.”
Twenty-four of Clark’s 37 points against the Sky came from eight made three-pointers, and the Fever star now also has the third-most seasons with 100+ made threes in WNBA history.
Clark is in the WNBA MVP race against the current holder, Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson, and Minnesota Lynx’s Olivia Miles, who has been a revelation since being selected No. 2 overall in the 2026 WNBA Draft.
During an appearance on the “Essentially Sports” podcast, Nancy Lieberman detailed Clark’s impact on the WNBA, comparing the Fever star to Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.
“Back in 1984, when Michael Jordan went to the NBA, the salaries went up, the arenas were full,” Lieberman said. “When Tiger Woods came, the crowds got bigger. What happened is, there was a group of women at the NCAA level that had this massive fanbase. Fandom is real right now in the WNBA.
“And the economic engine for this is Caitlin Clark. She shouldn’t have to apologize. She moves the financial needle more than any other player right now. Taylor Swift moves the needle more than anybody else. It happens; it’s not an anomaly.”
Clark is averaging 21.7 points on 44.6% shooting from the field and 35.4% from beyond the arc, 0.9 steals, 3.9 rebounds, and 8.2 assists for the Fever this season. She has led the Fever to a third consecutive playoff berth and has made the case to win the league’s most prestigious individual award.
