Skylar Diggins’ Bizarre Outfit Goes Viral As Storm Finally Clinch WNBA Playoff Spot

The Seattle Storm clinched a playoff berth, but Skylar Diggins’ bizarre pregame outfit stole the spotlight. See the outfit and fan reactions here.

For weeks, Seattle Storm fans had been on edge, unsure if their team would punch a ticket to the 2025 WNBA playoffs. On Sept. 9, those nerves finally settled as the Storm pulled off a nail-biting 74-73 victory over the Golden State Valkyries to secure their postseason berth.

But while the win was dramatic, it wasn’t the only thing lighting up social media. Instead, it was Storm guard Skylar Diggins who stole the spotlight — not with her game, but with a pregame outfit that went viral.

What Was Skylar Diggins’ Pregame Outfit?

The moment went mainstream when Complex Sports posted on Instagram, showcasing Diggins in a protein puffer jacket. What made it jaw-dropping? The jacket was crafted using 422 grams of protein from real dairy milk

This wasn’t the first time Diggins made fashion headlines. Back in May, she turned heads with a striking denim-on-denim ensemble. Styled by Manny Jay, the look featured a tailored longline coat with subtle fading and structured high-waist pants that gave her a polished appearance.

Now let’s look at what fans had to say on Instagram regarding the bizarre protein puffer outfit .

How Did Fans React to the Outfit?

Fans were divided on whether the protein jacket was genius or simply bizarre.

“Why,” wrote one fan. Another commented, “This is fashion?”

One comparison took it further: “This makes Lady Gaga’s meat dress look tame.”

For context, Gaga famously rocked a raw meat gown at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, sparking international debate. More than a decade later, fans say Diggins may have outdone even that spectacle.

Not everyone was laughing. Some took aim at Diggins’ on-court performance, arguing her attention was misplaced. She finished with 10 points, four rebounds, and six assists, but critics said she could have done more.

“And performed terrible, more focus on the fit than being prepared for the game,” one fan wrote.

On the flip side, a few defended her. One supporter gushed, “Love it! So much fun working on this campaign,” praising the creativity and applauding Diggins for pushing boundaries.

A Look at the Storm-Valkyries Game

As for the game itself, Seattle’s path to victory was anything but smooth. The Storm trailed by six after the opening quarter and by three at halftime. Golden State kept control well into the second half, but Seattle refused to fold.

In the fourth quarter, the Storm erupted with 21 points, capped by Erica Wheeler’s clutch game-winning jumper. That basket sealed the win and officially locked the Storm into the 2025 playoffs.

Seattle now joins the Minnesota Lynx, Las Vegas Aces, Atlanta Dream, Phoenix Mercury, New York Liberty, Indiana Fever, and Golden State Valkyries in the postseason.
