‘Nike Is Going To Be Saved’ – WNBA World Left Awestruck by International Launch Event for Caitlin Clark’s Signature Shoe

Caitlin Clark's launch event for her Nike Caitlin 1 in Berlin during the FIBA World Cup has led to a range of reactions from fans.

Nike took Caitlin Clark’s first signature shoe to Berlin, and fans quickly took notice. With the Caitlin 1 set to hit shelves on October 1, the brand’s showcase during the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup gave fans an early taste of the launch.

The event sparked excitement on social media, where fans celebrated Clark’s international reach, and one predicted her debut sneaker would help turn Nike’s fortunes around.

Nike hosted the Caitlin 1 showcase event, featuring a slew of activities for fans. The event featured a basketball arcade game, a juice bar, a painting station, and even a court with Clark’s signature logo.

Fans couldn’t get enough of this launch and how global the Indiana Fever star has become, as one user wrote, “CC is worldwide!”

Another user went off about Clark’s appeal, saying, “No wonder they all mad… they’ve never seen motion like this since Jordan! Caitlin Clark is the GOAT. And no one even comes close! Better get with the program. Big Motion 22 #CCMVP.”

One kept it short and sweet and said, “CC take over,” while another echoed the earlier ‘worldwide’ sentiment and expressed criticism over Nike falling short of capturing the market.

“Nike has decided to make Europe and global basketball play the priority over the WNBA … USA NIKE is a disaster, and thus I’m not excited to see anyone for commissioner from this (expletive) company. Whoever wrestled this promo from USA is a genius. Whoever runs USA and WNBA CC brand in USA (expletive) moron!!”

The user then expressed disbelief that Angel Reese’s Reebok shoe received more attention at this year’s All-Star Game than the CC1: “CC needs to demand a 100 million deal for next 4 years min. Nike is going to be saved only because of CC1!”

“I see why the October release. They wanted the international exposure at the Cup first. Smart,” one user remarked.

By August 17, 2026, Nike’s stock had fallen about 78% from its November 2021 all-time closing high.  Given how marketable Clark has become over the past few years, Nike could boost basketball sales by putting her at the forefront of its basketball division.

“This CC launch, and Caitlin herself, are probably Nike’s last hope,” one observer noted.

Clark, who reportedly signed an eight-year, $28 million contract with Nike in 2024, has expressed pride in her work with the American athletic footwear and apparel giant.

“You get to show the world what you’ve been working on for a couple of years,” Clark said about her signature shoe, Caitlin 1. “Really proud of the work we did together, and for myself it’s been a long time coming, so just thankful and grateful.”

Clark has shown off more than a dozen colorways in the past few months. Ahead of her senior World Cup debut, she also unveiled two Team USA player-exclusive colorways for the tournament.

Judging by the reaction to the Berlin showcase, fans eagerly await Clark’s first signature shoe, which could sell well when Nike releases it in October.
