Caitlin Clark has struggled to find her footing this season, missing five games due to a nagging left quad injury. While she returned in style during a commanding 102-88 win over the New York Liberty, the momentum didn’t last long.
On June 19, the Fever (6-6) suffered their sixth loss of the season to the Golden State Valkyries, further fueling concern about the team’s trajectory. But while Clark continues to battle on the hardwood, another storm is brewing off-court, centered on basketball personality and courtside correspondent Rachel DeMita.
The Big3 League Has Fired Rachel DeMita
According to Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports, DeMita has been fired from her role as a courtside correspondent for the Big3.
Part of the reason behind it is an X post she made in support of Clark following Clark’s much-anticipated return to action on Saturday, June 14, while she was actively working during a game in the Big3 league.
“The ‘final straw’ that led to the parting was when DeMita tweeted about Caitlin Clark highlights this past Saturday during a game, which she was working as a courtside correspondent for Big3, sources told Front Office Sports,” Glasspiegel reported.

Clark’s return against the Liberty came at the same time as DeMita’s game in Chicago, which she was covering from the sidelines. Her tweet supported Clark amid her return, hailing her abilities to prove the doubters wrong.
DeMita, who joined the Big3 in 2024, is a familiar face in basketball media, having previously worked with ‘NBA 2K’ and has garnered a strong social media following. Neither the Big3 league nor DeMita’s representatives have officially commented.
Surprisingly, though, the 3-on-3 basketball league has previously crossed paths with Clark.
The Big3, co-founded by rapper Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz, features former NBA and international players across 12 teams. However, its attempt to make headlines last year by offering Clark a massive $10 million contract to join the Big3 drew widespread attention and controversy.
While Clark ultimately declined the offer and entered the WNBA, Ice Cube later revealed that it wasn’t her lack of interest that drove the decision. In a candid interview earlier this month, the rapper and Big3 co-founder claimed it was Clark’s agents who blocked the deal behind the scenes.
“Yeah, it was a real offer. You know, we paid to fulfill the offer. We just wanted to have a conversation with her and her family about it. That didn’t happen. I think the agents kept us away. And we moved on, and she’s doing great in the WNBA, and we wish her well,” Ice Cube said during his appearance on the “Run It Back TV” podcast on FanDuel.
Despite the early-season struggles and injury setbacks, Clark is currently averaging 19.9 points, 8.7 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game. She and the Fever will next face the Las Vegas Aces on June 22.
