‘People Aren’t Going To Like You’ – Fever Star Caitlin Clark Reveals How She Deals With Harsh Social Media Criticism

Fevers' Caitlin Clark breaks her silence on online hate, revealing how she stays grounded and focused amid nonstop social media scrutiny.

If there’s anyone in the WNBA who knows how to handle constant social media noise, it’s Indiana Fever phenom Caitlin Clark. She’s found herself at the center of countless debates and heated discussions about everything from officiating calls to injuries. One controversy after another seems to follow Clark’s star power around the league.

Despite all the chatter, she stays composed and grounded. Clark silences the discourse and keeps pushing toward her goals. How does she pull that off? She breaks it down perfectly on “A Touch More” podcast.

How Does Caitlin Clark Handle Social Media Scrutiny So Well?

Speaking with Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe, Clark admits she’s aware of the scrutiny and attention that follows her everywhere. However, all the negativity in online spaces doesn’t seem to faze her. When asked how she processes the hate and what it’s like for her, she responds with remarkable clarity.

Clark explained that she doesn’t measure her worth through what gets projected on the internet. “Well, I think first you have to remember social media is just a false perception of reality. And even for myself, you don’t always realize that at times, it’s not the real world.”

Instead of focusing her attention on social media and the false narratives it displays, Clark believes in focusing on the supporters she meets in real life. She keeps grinding for the people who actually matter.

“When you’re in a position, people are going to love you, people aren’t going to like you, I think, when I show up to arenas, those are the moments that remind me how many people are there supporting you. Little boys, little girls, those aren’t the people on social media, caring about every decision you make or every comment you make.”

While it’s clear that the microscopic attention Clark receives isn’t going anywhere, she keeps her resolve strong and doesn’t cave to its pressure. She stays self-aware and faces every challenge by remaining true to herself.

“I also feel like I just try to show up every day and be myself. And approach it that way, and just be authentically me.”

Clark understands that the modern WNBA landscape comes with criticism. It’s part of the package and the life she’s chosen. Yet she never loses her humility and gratitude.

“Hard questions, hard moments, whatever that is, I think you just take it as it goes. I always try to remind myself how lucky I am to be here, in this position. There would be so many people who would kill to be in my shoes.”

The idea of being under constant scrutiny, where everything Clark says or does gets analyzed, doesn’t seem to bother her. She gracefully handles this spotlight, no matter how intense it gets. While living up to these principles might be tough for any player, Clark understands and prioritizes the importance of real-life interactions. For her, social media is nothing but chatter, noise that needs to be blocked out when you have bigger things to achieve.

As she continues progressing in her WNBA journey, Clark keeps inspiring thousands of women across the globe while spreading her influence. Nothing seems to slow her down.
