Let there be no doubt as to San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle’s feelings toward their vanquished adversary, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In the midst of celebrating their series win over the Thunder, he embraced Paige Bueckers of the Dallas Wings, on the court where he spotted a Thunder jersey over her shoulder. Having none of that, he hilariously threw it to the ground, and both continued celebrating the Spurs’ game 7 win over the Thunder to clinch the Western Conference.
Spurs’ Stephon Castle Hilariously Throws Thunder Jersey Off Paige Bueckers Shoulder During Celebrations
Bueckers and Castle are both close friends, not just because they represent basketball franchises in the state of Texas, but also because they are both alumni who starred playing college hoops for the UConn Huskies. Assuredly, these two will be stars for their franchises for years to come.
Bueckers previously spoke fondly to the media about Castle’s game and how well he defended Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the Western Conference Finals. “Steph, he’s my guy, he’s done a good job defensively.”
Consequently, Castle’s excellent defense and a strong series overall led to the Spurs’ victory over the Thunder.
Bueckers embraced her friend from UConn on the court after the buzzer, and, in the celebrations, Castle hilariously sent the Thunder jersey previously resting on her shoulder straight to the ground. Both chuckled at the fallen jersey, and Castle’s reaction as it felt like the final nail in the Thunder’s coffin for the 2026 season.

Meanwhile, the Spurs advance to set up a mouthwatering 1999 rematch of the NBA finals against the New York Knicks. And even more recently, a rematch of this year’s NBA cup, which saw the Knicks triumph over the Spurs.
As for Bueckers, her elite playmaking has taken the entire WNBA by storm. So much so that she was recently voted by WNBA GMs as the number-one player they’d build a franchise around, attesting to the respect she’s earned around the league in only her second year starring for the Wings.
She’s helped revitalize the Wings franchise and has led them to an early 5-3 start. Already, just 8 games in, the Wings have reached half the number of wins they had all of last season.
Last year’s number one overall pick in the WNBA draft is averaging an impressive 19.4 points per game, 5.1 assists, 50.9% from the field, and a red-hot 45.7% from beyond the arc so far in her second season.
Bueckers and the Wings face the Seattle storm on Monday night; meanwhile, Castle’s Spurs take on the Knicks in game one of the NBA finals on Wednesday night.
