The WNBA regular season comes to a close on Sept. 24, which leaves just a few more weeks for players to compete for the MVP title.
Right now, some of the front-runners include A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, Olivia Miles of the Minnesota Lynx and Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever and Kelsey Mitchell of the Fever.
Fans and players have been revealing their predictions, but fellow Indiana guard Lexie Hull can’t choose between the top contenders.
Lexie Hull Plays Middleman Amid WNBA MVP Race
While speaking with WISH-TV News on Aug. 27, Hull shared her thoughts on where things stand in the MVP race between Clark and Mitchell.
“I think any of them deserve it, for sure,” she said. “I think for us, it just shows the success of our team. I think all of them can tell you, they’re just such big team players; they’ll do whatever that we need for our team to win and it’s showing up on the stat sheet for sure, so I’m just excited for those end of the season awards and to see what they can achieve, and I think that we’ll be so happy, the city will be so happy and our fans will be so proud. So, regardless, we’re proud of them.”

Ahead of the Fever’s next clash, Clark is averaging 22.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game. She is shooting 45.0% from the floor in her third year playing professional basketball.
As for Mitchell, another strong contender, she is currently averaging 24.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. She is shooting 51.0% from the floor.
Mitchell is now in the midst of her ninth year in the WNBA, each of which has been spent with the Indiana franchise.
Both guards are truly having MVP-caliber seasons, making this race particularly close. In Hull’s own words, both are deserving of this highly touted recognition.
This marks Hull’s fifth WNBA campaign, and again, each year she’s played has been spent sporting a Fever uniform. She is averaging 5.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game, while shooting 43.9% from the floor.
Outside of the WNBA MVP race, Indiana is wrapping up its summer schedule, with its next clash scheduled for Friday, against the Connecticut Sun at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The Fever still sit in fifth place standings at 25-14 overall. They are trailing the Atlanta Dream at 25-13. As expected, the standings are tight as each franchise battles it out for postseason contention.
