‘There’s Frustration’ — Lexie Hull Makes Feelings Clear on Caitlin Clark’s Heated Exchange With Fever HC Stephanie White

Indiana Fever guard Lexie Hull discussed the heated exchange between Caitlin Clark and head coach Stephanie White after the team's latest loss.

The Indiana Fever have lost back-to-back games, and their latest defeat came on Saturday night when the Portland Fire beat them 100-84. That result dropped their record to 4-4 on the season.

After the loss, a heated exchange between Caitlin Clark and head coach Stephanie White has dominated the discourse, and now Fever teammate Lexie Hull is speaking up about it.

Lexie Hull Weighs In On Heated Argument Between Caitlin Clark, Fever HC Stephanie White

During the Fever’s game against the Fire on May 30, things got tense on the Indiana bench in the second quarter. During a timeout, Clark and White got into an argument with both ladies visibly upset.

White, who looked very frustrated, continuously pointed at Clark and slapped her knee as she made her point. Clark threw her hands up and shook her head. Shortly after, White took Clark out of the game and put rookie Raven Johnson in her spot.

The moment was caught on camera, and the video quickly went viral across social media. Fever guard Lexie Hull was asked about it on “Yahoo Sports Daily” on Monday.

“I think it’s just… there’s frustration,” Hull admitted. “We noticed they were trying to pick on Caitlin a little bit on the defensive end; she was getting called for some fouls. Fouls aren’t fun; she got into some foul trouble, our team got into some foul trouble, and that’s just all it was. I think that’s part of the game. There’s frustrations that rise and decisions have to be made.

“And ultimately, this wasn’t something that carried on. This was in the moment something that happened; it’s not something that’s talked about now in our locker room [or] talked about even later on in the game. It was just something that happened, and unfortunately Caitlin has a camera on her 24/7, so you see every little thing. But this happens almost every day in women’s basketball, and it’s not something we’re worried about at all.”

Clark finished the game with just 6 points in 22 minutes. She shot just 1-of-7 from the field, although she did chip in 2 rebounds, 6 assists, and a steal in her 22 minutes of action.

Moreover, to Hull’s point, foul trouble also played a major role in limiting Clark’s impact as she picked up her third foul before halftime. Things became even more challenging after the break, as she was whistled for two more fouls in the third quarter.

As for the game itself, the Fever were in trouble from the opening tip. They were down by 14 points after the first quarter and were still trailing by 13 points at halftime. The Fire then scored 50 points after the break.

The Fever will now look to regroup and get back on track on Thursday against Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream.
