‘This Is Nasty’ – WNBA World Reacts to Cheryl Miller’s Blunt Dig at Caitlin Clark After Viral Stephanie White Incident

The WNBA world didn't hold back after Cheryl Miller's take on the heated exchange between Caitlin Clark and Fever head coach Stephanie White.

Recently, Caitlin Clark made headlines as the Indiana Fever superstar got into a heated argument with head coach Stephanie White during the team’s 100-84 loss to the Portland Fire on Saturday.

Former player-turned-analyst Cheryl Miller later weighed in on the exchange, but her two cents prompted major criticism from the WNBA world.

WNBA World Slams Cheryl Miller’s Comments on Caitlin Clark-Stephanie White Incident

Speaking on NBC’s “At the Half,” Miller shared her thoughts on the heated exchange between Clark and White. “Right now, it’s frustration,” she said. “And unfortunately, it’s boiling over, and it’s being seen. It’s one thing to have it behind closed doors, but [it’s another thing] when it spills over, and when the coach has to basically say, ‘You know what Caitlin, enough is enough, this is too disruptive, in and out, take a seat.'”

After WNBA legend Sue Bird mentioned that she sometimes got into it with her coaches during her playing caller, Miller added: “But you knew the line. You knew the line. When it becomes disruptive… Even Kelsey Mitchell kind of chimed in, like, ‘You need to go stand over here and let us regain the calm in our huddle.’ When it becomes that disruptive for the entire team, somebody has to step in.'”

These comments didn’t sit well with some in the WNBA world.

“Cheryl Miller turns on Caitlin Clark for a paycheck and continued inclusion in the club,” posted the CDS Sports Podcast.

One Clark fan wrote: “Leave Caitlin Clark alone! The league has 100 of other players to talk about. Talk about the game you are currently covering and remove CC out of your clout chasing mouth.”

“this is nasty asf lmfao,” posted one hoops content creator.

“Wow. Didn’t see this coming. I disagree,” another Clark fan added. “It’s not Caitlin being disruptive. She also isn’t the one who’s the worst on defensive end. What we saw is coaching problem. There wasn’t just one player playing bad. The whole team was disrupted because of Steph’s decisions.”

The exchange occurred during a timeout when an animated and a visibly-upset White addressed the team. Clark responded and threw her hands up, looking equally upset. The situation turned sour when White motioned for rookie Raven Johnson to take Clark’s seat and check into the game. Clark shook her head in disbelief.

Miller’s comments suggest that both White and Clark, known for their immense competitive nature, let their emotions take centerstage.

The Fever ultimately lost the contest, sliding to 4-4. Clark ended her evening with a forgettable 6 points on 1-of-7 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 from the free throw line. She also recorded 2 rebounds, 6 assists, and a steal in her 22 minutes of action.

Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana with 18 and 17 points, respectively. But their efforts weren’t enough as the Fire, led by Carla Leite’s 18 points and 12 assists, and Megan Gustafson’s 22 points, trounced the away team by 16 points.

Up next, Clark and the Fever return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse to host Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream on Thursday.
