‘Definitely Going to Adidas’ — WNBA World Reacts as Kelsey Plum Cuts Ties With Under Armour After Stephen Curry

Kelsey Plum leaves Under Armour as the brand's basketball roster grows thinner, fueling rumors of a potential deal with Adidas.

Under Armour’s basketball roster continues to grow thinner. Just a few months after parting ways with NBA superstar Stephen Curry, the brand is now parting ways with another big name: Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum.

Plum is now officially a sneaker free agent.

How the WNBA World Reacted to Kelsey Plum Leaving Under Armour

B/R Kicks revealed on Tuesday that Kelsey Plum and Under Armour are cutting ties with one another.

This came after months of speculation across the WNBA world. Plum wore Adidas throughout the Unrivaled winter season and kept wearing the three stripes all throughout Team USA practices.

Plum, who signed a one-year, $999,999 deal with Los Angeles this offseason, was recently seen wearing a Fear of God Athletics hoodie and Adidas Adistar Control 5s. With the news breaking, their parting ways only made it official.

But the quiet, low-key nature of the rollout is what caught the attention of many.

There are no goodbye posts by the brand or Plum, no campaign farewell, and just a short brand statement wishing her the best.

“We appreciate the partnership we’ve had with Kelsey and everything she’s contributed. As we sharpen our focus and build for what’s next, we’re moving in different directions. We wish her the best,” Under Armour told Front Office Sports in a statement.

Sneaker content creator Kari Daniels flagged this exact dynamic. “I feel like UA was trying to keep this lowkey lol,” Daniels posted, pointing to how a split with a four-time All-Star would usually warrant a much bigger public moment.

Sports journalist Lachelle Smith skipped past the breakup and went straight to the next chapter. “She definitely going to adidas,” Smith wrote.

Plum signed with the brand in 2022, and her contract was reportedly set to expire at some point in 2026. She wore UA sneakers throughout the 2025 WNBA season before switching to Adidas once Unrivaled tipped off.

When the switch first raised eyebrows in January, Under Armour told Front Office Sports it was working on a solution to support her training needs. That solution never came, as Plum never laced up UA sneakers publicly again after a brief stretch at the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying in Puerto Rico.

Plum’s exit from the partnership was announced after Curry parted ways with the brand, not long after the Curry 13s were released in February 2026. De’Aaron Fox’s third signature sneaker, which debuted this year, also dropped without the Curry Brand logo, which was another visible sign of the restructuring.

UA’s remaining WNBA roster now consists of Marina Mabrey, Diamond Miller, Laeticia Amihere, and Nika Muhl.
