Is Kelsey Plum Playing Tonight? Latest Update on the Sparks Star’s Injury and Status vs. Lynx

The Los Angeles Sparks will be sweating on the availability of top scorer Kelsey Plum, who is on the injury report ahead of their high-stakes clash against the WNBA leaders, the Minnesota Lynx.

We have the latest on Plum’s status ahead of tonight’s crunch WNBA contest.

Kelsey Plum Injury Update: Will the Sparks Guard Play in WNBA Game vs. the Lynx?

Plum is dealing with a lower leg injury and has been listed as “questionable” on the official WNBA injury report ahead of the regular season game. She played 29 minutes for the Lynx on Monday against the Golden State Valkyries but could only manage 9 points in the blowout loss. The game marked the end of a three-game winning streak for the Sparks.

It is likely that a final decision on Plum’s status for the game will be made closer to the tip-off. The 31-year-old previously missed three straight games for the Sparks due to a right ankle sprain sustained in practice.

However, Plum returned from injury on June 5 and has suited up for all five of the Sparks’ games since. It is currently unclear when or how Plum suffered her latest injury.

Plum’s absence would be a huge blow to the Sparks’ hopes of defeating the Lynx, who have won 9 of their last 10 games and lead the WNBA with an 11-3 record.

The 5-foot-8 guard is the Sparks’ leading scorer and the WNBA’s second-highest scorer this season, averaging 25.0 points per game on 54.0% shooting. She is also the Sparks’ assists leader at 6.4 per game.

Plum scored a career-high 43 points in just 37 minutes for the Sparks earlier this month as they defeated the Phoenix Mercury in overtime. The Washington alum went 14-of-26 from the field and 5-of-11 from the three-point line.

In addition to Plum, the Sparks will also be without star forward Cameron Brink on Wednesday. She has been listed as “Out” on the official injury report due to a left ankle injury.

Brink sustained the injury against the Valkyries on Monday. It is currently unclear how long she will be sidelined for. This latest injury is a big setback for Brink, who spent significant time on the sidelines due to a torn ACL during her rookie season.
