Caitlin Clark Just Made WNBA History 2 Games Into Her Sophomore Season: Viral Stat Proves the Fever Star Is 1 of a Kind

Caitlin Clark set a new WNBA record in just her second game of the 2025 season, proving once again she's a one-of-a-kind star in the entire league.

The 2025 WNBA season is barely underway, and Caitlin Clark has already made history – again. Just two games into her sophomore year, the Indiana Fever star put together a stat line that wasn’t just impressive, it was historic.

It wasn’t her first time in the record books, and the way she’s going, it certainly won’t be the last. In a tight loss to the Atlanta Dream, Clark turned heads, broke records, and reminded everyone why she’s already a generational talent.

Caitlin Clark Becomes the WNBA’s 20 –10 Record Queen

Some players put up numbers. Then there’s Clark, who keeps breaking records before most players even find their rhythm. Just two games into her second season, Clark tied the WNBA record for the most 20-point, 10-assist games in league history. She’s done it 10 times already.

She now shares that mark with Courtney Vandersloot. But here’s the catch — Vandersloot has been in the league for more than a decade. Clark, on the other hand, has played her 42nd game.

In Tuesday’s 91-90 loss to the Dream, Clark poured in 27 points and dished out 11 assists. That also makes it her sixth career game with at least 25 points and 10 assists – the most in WNBA history. She passed Sabrina Ionescu, the New York Liberty star, who has five such games to her name in six seasons.

It’s not just the record that’s shocking – it’s how fast she got there. Her first 25–10 game came against the Washington Mystics last season, where she had 29 and 13 assists. Now, she’s done it six times and counting. It’s a stat that proves what fans have been feeling: Clark doesn’t just belong, she leads.

And this came right after she made history in the season opener. Against the Chicago Sky on May 18, Clark became the fastest player in WNBA history to record three career triple-doubles, notching 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. She tied Candace Parker for the third-most triple-doubles ever. All that, in just 41 games.

Even in a close loss, Clark’s fingerprints were everywhere. She inbounded the ball in the final seconds, setting up a shot that barely missed. The Fever now sits at 1-1, with a rematch against the Dream set for Thursday, May 22, in Atlanta.

WNBA Shows Love for Clark

Every time Clark takes the court, something happens. And on Tuesday, it was the way she turned a 10-point deficit into a thriller in the fourth quarter. She nailed five 3-pointers, including two back-to-back daggers that cut the lead down to four. The Fever surged, the crowd roared, and Clark once again delivered.

She finished +5 while on the floor, and the league noticed.

“CAITLIN CLARK IS UNREAL,” the WNBA’s official account posted. That pretty much sums it up.

She’s the face of the league, its biggest draw, and now its 20–10 record-holder. In just her second season, Caitlin Clark isn’t chasing records – she’s setting them. She’s the headline, the history, and the hope, all in one.
