Caitlin Clark, Lexie Hull Send Love to Red Panda After Scary Injury During Commissioner’s Cup Halftime Event

Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull send recovery wishes to 'Red Panda' after scary fall during the WNBA Commissioner Cup match's half-time show.

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup champions for the first time in history, following a 74-59 win against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday night.

However, an unfortunate incident occurred during the game. Red Panda, a popular halftime performer, suffered a scary fall while performing. And as Clark and the rest of the team celebrated their maiden trophy, they made sure to send love to Red Panda.

Panda, whose real name is Rong Niu, is a well-known halftime performer in the NBA and WNBA. On the court, she juggles various things while riding a 7-foot unicycle.

However, during Tuesday night’s halftime performance at the Target Center, Red Panda suffered a scary fall shortly after starting her performance. She fell from the unicycle and clutched her wrist on the floor before being wheeled off the court in a wheelchair.

Clark and other Fever guard Lexi Hull shared recovery wishes for Red Panda while celebrating their Commissioner’s Cup victory during a live stream on Sydney Colson’s Instagram. Clark remembered her first, saying, “Red Panda, we love you!”.

Hull joined Clark later, and the two joined their hands to make a heart and send it to Red Panda. “Red Panda, if you’re watching, we love you,” the duo said in unison.

Red Panda previously performed during Game 5 of the 2025 NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. She is an “America’s Got Talent” participant and reached the quarterfinals of the competition in 2013 before withdrawing for personal reasons.

The acrobat has been a halftime performer since 1993, and this wasn’t the first time she suffered a nasty injury. In an interview with SB Nation in 2018, she said she had also broken her arm once after falling from the unicycle.

“At the beginning, I was riding unicycles two-and-a-half feet high. Then, once you get better, you change the height. After riding like a year or two, you don’t feel the fear any more. You’re getting used to it. But then a few years ago, I fell and broke my arm. That made me feel that fear again. But after a while, you get over that,” she said. “I was in a cast for 10 months without practice.”

Clark and the rest of the basketball world will hope this injury is less severe and that she can return to performing her skills soon.
