The Chicago Sky were set for a marquee matchup at the United Center this weekend, with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark expected to draw a packed house. But after Clark was sidelined by injury, demand for the game plummeted. What was once one of the hottest tickets on the WNBA schedule has seen a sharp drop in value.
For fans hoping to see Clark on the court, the news was a blow. With her return timeline still uncertain, secondary market prices for Fever-Sky tickets have taken a steep nosedive.
How Caitlin Clarkâs Injury Has Impacted Indiana Fever Ticket Demand and Team Performance
According to Front Office Sports, secondary market ticket prices for the Fever-Sky matchup were initially soaring. Resale prices began at $393 before the announcement of Clarkâs injury status. But in the 12 days since the team announced she would be sidelined for at least two weeks, prices have crashed. As of game day morning, some tickets could be found for as little as $12.
Clark injured her left quad during Indianaâs narrow 90-88 loss to the New York Liberty on May 24. The Fever initially projected her absence at two weeks, but her return remains a day-to-day consideration.
Speaking to reporters on June 5 for the first time since the injury, Clark made it clear she is not rushing the process.

“I’ll miss this weekend’s game, but after that it’s day-by-day and see how I feel and turn to the medical staff and what they think,” Clark said. “Feel like I’ve made a lot of progress and I feel good. I’m not gonna rush coming back, it’s just not worth it.”
Though she could potentially return as soon as June 10 against the Atlanta Dream, Clark made no guarantees. The Fever have gone 1-2 without her but are hoping to add a notch to the win column tonight against the Sky.
Clarkâs absence has also reshaped her role within the team. The phenom, averaging 19 points, 9.3 assists, and six rebounds per game, has shifted her focus toward leadership off the court.
âJust trying to be there for them has been my focus,â she said. âI think that can kind of distract you from not actually playing, is when youâre just focusing on your teammates.â
Clark added that sheâs embraced helping her teammates stay connected during games. âIâm trying to be that connector between the coaches and my teammates. Whether thatâs in the locker room or at halftime, whether thatâs during timeouts.â
The last Fever-Sky matchup, Indianaâs season opener, drew an average of 2.7 million viewers on ESPN, the networkâs most-watched WNBA game ever. Indiana also holds a 42â29 all-time series advantage over Chicago.
With Clark sidelined, Indianaâs recent struggles underscore her importance to the teamâs success. Fans are eager for updates this weekend when sheâs set for reevaluation.
âI feel I made a lot of progress,â Clark said. âI am feeling good, but I am not going to rush the process.â
For now, patience is the name of the game â both for Clark and for the Feverâs faithful supporters.
