Since its founding, the WNBA has seen its fair share of dynamic duos who have reshaped the league’s landscape and broken boundaries with their outstanding performances.
The current setting is no stranger to this setup. There are formidable duos who have guided their teams up the standings (Minnesota’s Kayla McBride and Olivia Miles, and Las Vegas’ A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young, to name a few), positioning their ballclubs for a possible playoff ticket this coming postseason.
But a former NFL quarterback-turned sports analyst and commentator claimed that nothing is keeping the Indiana Fever duo of Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell from being named the “best 1-2 duo in the WNBA.”
Robert Griffin III Believes Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell Are the ‘Best 1–2 Duo in the WNBA’
Robert Griffin III made a bold statement on social media hours after the Indiana Fever’s 108-100 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday.
Griffin, who played in the NFL for Washington, Cleveland, and Baltimore before becoming a sports analyst and podcaster, claimed that Clark and Mitchell are the league’s best 1-2 combo.
“Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell are the best 1-2 Duo in the WNBA right now,” Griffin said.

He backed up the statement by presenting Mitchell’s streak of 20-point games, which brought her closer to Wilson’s record of 15 straight games scoring more than 20 points. Griffin also noted Clark’s all-around brilliance and pointed out that they make good music together en route to the Fever’s 19-11 season.
“Kelsey Mitchell has had FIVE 30 point games this season and has scored 20 points or more in 14 straight games, one game away from tying A’ja Wilson’s WNBA record of 15 straight.”

“Caitlin Clark is coming off 3 straight games where she has 32 points and 7 assists, a 26 points-10 Rebs-10 assists triple double and a 19 point and 10 assist double double. They are sensational together and make each other better,” he added.
Before that tweet, the Baylor standout hailed Clark as a generational talent for her willingness to sacrifice points to help her teammates, particularly Mitchell and center Aliyah Boston, shine alongside her during the Fever’s championship quest.
He also highlighted the other qualities that make Clark a favorite in the WNBA.
“Caitlin Clark is a generational talent. No doubt about it,” Griffin wrote. “But her willingness to help her teammates Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston shine shows her championship DNA. When they have the hot hand, SHE FEEDS THEM. No selfishness. No jealousy. Just Ball. You LOVE to see it.”

Clark, Mitchell, Boston, and the rest of the Indiana Fever will have to bounce back immediately after that stinging loss to the Minnesota Lynx.
However, they will face a tough Las Vegas Aces team at home on Thursday night to keep pace with the Atlanta Dream.
