Speculation about Angel Reese’s future continues to make headlines after the Chicago Sky superstar’s controversial statements criticizing the team for its disappointing 2025 WNBA campaign. The Sky failed to make the playoffs for the second season with Reese on the roster.
While taking a shot at the team, the forward also hinted at a potential exit, and trade rumors have circulated since. Should the franchise decide to shop Reese this offseason, there are a few teams in the league that could benefit from adding her.
Washington Mystics
The Mystics may not have made the playoffs, but they have one of the most promising young cores in the WNBA. Much like the Dallas Wings, who have the money to swing a major move, Washington can also target the former LSU star. The Mystics can use draft capital to sweeten the deal, as they hold three first-round picks in the upcoming 2026 draft.
The question will be whether the Mystics are willing to part with Sonia Citron after the Notre Dame product proved versatile on both ends of the floor. The Sky will look to find a defensive talent to compensate for Reese. The Mystics could also look at Jade Melbourne and Georgia Amoore as part of a trade package with picks.

Atlanta Dream
The Atlanta Dream would check one major box for Reese: being part of a contender. They had a strong 2025 regular season with a string of All-Stars in Brittney Griner, Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, and Brionna Jones.
Like the Minnesota Lynx, Atlanta has been a defense-first team, and Reese’s addition would strengthen its rebounding department. It would also help keep Griner, now 34, fresh throughout the season. The Dream could absorb the young forward’s rookie contract and, in return, send Naz Hillmon packaged with a pick. Per Spotrac, Hillmon is on an expiring deal.
Golden State Valkyries
One of the hottest teams in the league, the Golden State Valkyries wasted no time in implementing a precision-for-performance approach in their maiden WNBA season. A move to the West, however, would likely require the Valkyries to sacrifice either Kate Martin ($68,595) or a pick to add Reese.
Reese’s arrival would not only signal a major change in the WNBA landscape but also make her the face of the Valkyries’ future. A move of this magnitude, along with the addition of versatile role players, could make Golden State bona fide title contenders.
Seattle Storm
The Seattle Storm are among the teams that could use Reese’s services. Adding her would help transform them into legitimate title contenders. Her defensive chops would make her a seamless fit alongside Gabby Williams, Nneka Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins, and Ezi Magbegor.
Reese brings stability to the Storm on both ends of the floor. With the right chemistry and consistency, her arrival could elevate Seattle into one of the league’s better teams with the perfect blend of youth and experience.
Los Angeles Sparks
Kelsey Plum and Angel Reese for the Los Angeles Sparks? Earlier, there were rumors of the Sparks as an interested party, and while they would need to give up some depth to acquire the star forward, she would provide a major boost for a team looking to return to the playoffs.
The Sparks have missed the postseason for two straight years, and adding Reese would strengthen their defense, a major area of concern after they lost center Cameron Brink for the first half of the season.
