WNBA analyst Tyler DeLuca wrote, “Starting WNBA offseason off with a BANG omg!!!” after the blockbuster trade. This was followed by the Lakers’ content handle, LakersGuru, weighing in, saying, “ANGEL HAS BEEN FREED!!!!! LET’S GO!!!!!!!”
“No clue how Angel forced her way out of there, but whew. Atlanta just got better,” read another post. Celtics reporter Noa Dalzell added, “Wow! Happy for Angel — feels like her tenure in that org was inevitably coming to an end asap.”
In related news, Dream general manager Dan Padover was ecstatic about the trade. “Angel is a dynamic talent and a perfect fit for what we are building in Atlanta,” he said, per The Athletic
“She has already proven herself as one of the most impactful players in the league, and her competitiveness, production, and drive to win align seamlessly with our vision. This is an exciting moment for our organization and our fans.”
Also welcoming the forward to the fold was Dream coach Karl Smesko. “Angel’s ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor is elite,” said Smesko. “Her energy, toughness, and instincts will thrive in our system, and we’re excited to integrate her into the style of play we are constructing here in Atlanta.”
Added Reese: “I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to join the Atlanta Dream organization,” Reese said. “I’m focused on continuing to grow my game, competing at the highest level, connecting with the fans, and giving everything I’ve got to the Dream.”
The previous season saw Reese prop up 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds in 30 games. Despite her double-double dominance, the Sky failed to make the playoffs with a 10-34 record. As for Atlanta, the franchise made the first round of the 2025 WNBA playoffs, but were downed 2-1 by the Indiana Fever.
With Reese in the mix, the Dream has marquee names in Allisha Gray, Brittney Griner, and Rhyne Howard forming a formidable unit. Reese’s fierce rebounding skills adds more depth to their two-way play as the team looks to make a case for the silverware this season.
