Aliyah Boston shared her two cents on Caitlin Clark’s injury and her absence for the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season. The second-year guard’s injury comes as a massive blow ahead of their playoff campaign.
Clark dealt with a series of injuries, ranging from a quad strain to groin injuries and a bone bruise on her ankle. The string of issues saw her sidelined for the rest of the season. Boston, in her latest appearance on the “Post Moves” podcast, detailed how Clark was still actively involved with the Fever despite her disappointing season.
What Did Aliyah Boston Say About Caitlin Clark’s Role With the Fever After Gutting Injury Run?
Speaking to WNBA legend Candace Parker on the podcast, Boston revealed how Clark was a pivotal figure in the team setup despite missing the rest of the season.
“I mean, that’s our girl. You know that’s our girl. And I look like no matter what happened, you have to protect yourself,” she said.
“And you have to protect your career. There’s no reason to force anything. And I feel like her just kind of having that approach of doing what’s best for her is all we can ask for. Because we’d rather [have] Caitlin sit out and then come back next season, and we’re ready to roll.”
“We’ve been supporting her, and she’s been supporting her,” Boston added. “She’s always there. We’re watching a film and she’s there taking us through.”
With Clark out for the season, along with key names in Sydney Colson, Sophie Cunningham, and Aari McDonald, much of the Fever’s hopes depend on Boston, Lexie Hull, and Kelsey Mitchell as they gear up for the postseason. The Fever depth has taken a major hit, but the team has been a picture of determination and punching a playoff ticket.
Boston has been impressive this season, averaging 15.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. Mitchell has been equally stellar with 20.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. The duo has been key in keeping Indiana in the hunt for a playoff berth and taking on the Atlanta Dream.
The Fever finished their regular season as the sixth seed with a 24-20 record. This marks their second playoff appearance in as many seasons. But they will be without the services of Caitlin Clark when they begin their next challenging stretch of games. Only time will tell if Boston can help the Fever make a deeper run.
The 2025 WNBA playoffs begin on Sunday, Sept. 14.
